Scan's open shop this weekend has (they say) 700+ RTX 30xx cards for sale.

Does it actually say "700+ RTX 30x0 GPUs" or "just "700+ GPUs, and some will be RTX30x0"?

Could be, but other than Radeon 6000 series what else is available new, even 1650s are in short supply and if most of the cards for sale today are GT710s they'll be a riot.

They don't look all that much cheaper to be honest, maybe save £200 if you are lucky but that means registering, driving down there, queueing up and wasting half a day where you might not even get one anyway, or at least not the one you want. I think I'd rather spend the extra and have the one I want brought to the door.

If they were half price on the other hand....

Someone I know bagged an Asus 3080ti for £1049 - thats RRP and first one I've seen at that level.

They were always going to sell out nearly immediately, even if you, me and the rest of pistonheads didn't feel it was worth our time.

This is insane, do we think the 40xx GPUs might be released before they can even produce enough 30XX GPUs?

They seem to release a new version every two years which implies the 40XX would be released in January 2023. Is it possible they might stretch the life of the 30XX a bit longer if the massive demand is still there?

If both GPUs need the same silicon capacity, then they may just rebrand the 30x0 cards as a step down 40x0 card and add DLSS 3.0!

So:

• a 3090 with DLSS2.0 would become a 4080 with DLSS3.0
• a 3080 with DLSS2.0 would become a 4070 with DLSS3.0
• etc.

It is amazing how much the 1080ti is going for on eBay, a card that is over four years old now?

Is it the first time in history where buying a piece of technology is actually an investment, rather than something that is worthless in a few years?
