3700 gimped on 8GB VRAM going forward though. It's going to give folks a compelling reason to upgrade shortly. Not to mention AMDs sneaky cross pollination with Zen 3 and the benefits that's meant to bring with 'GOD MODE'. I mean 'MENTAL MODE' or whatever biggrin

The 6800 is a bit more expensive than I was expecting it to be.

I'll probably try to get a 3070 tomorrow then.

Looking at the 6800 and XT versions both wold work great on my ultrawide 1440 setup.

However I'm still going to try for a 3070 today. Says both 1pm and 2pm sales depending where you look. If noy joy I'll try for an AMD come November.

If all fails I'll try and get a ps5 instead.... Ha!

Stand by for the imminent announcement of a 16GB 3080Ti.

The 6900XT looks most impressive to me. 33% less ram, less power draw, $500 cheaper, and outperforms the 3090*. With AMD CPU.

Alas, I have a G-Sync monitor, so looks like I'm stuck with Nvidia, unless I can man maths my way around getting a new one, but I've had it less than a year

I don't know if it works the other way round but my 34" ultrawide is Freesync rated and after a recent driver update, nvidia cards operate in compatability with Freesync, I don't know if AMD have allowed compatability with g-sync yet in a similar move??

There are a lot of Freesync monitors that are G-Sync compatible. Given that G-Sync monitors are more expensive, there's no reason for AMD to waste time and effort in adding G-Sync compatibility.

Yeah when I bought it I wanted a 1440p ultrawide 100hz+ IPS panel, limited my options somewhat, almost all were G-Sync only

I was on the phone to one of the main UK retailers just now about something else and asked them about the 3070 and 3080 while I had them on the phone. Not much on details but they did say there is a "fair bit more stock" for the 3070 but obviously still need to be quick (and patient I guess if their webservers crumble again). I asked about the 3080, they said best lead time if I ordered now would be delivery in February. I imagine that'll be similar across all UK retailers.

Plan is to stick to 2 retailers, probably scan and currys. If I don't get with them I'm not chasing up 5 different places. If I get the 3070 great, if not, oh well. At least currys, are showing prices, scan isn't and we're less than an hour to go...

Well that was a fking joke.

Had the card in my basket, went through all the captcha crap...twice.

typed in bank details, all good, then RBS said no, we need to talk to you, on a card ive used for amounts up and down the cost spectrum daily for my business.

So payment declined, by time i try and do it with paypal, all gone.

fking waste of time

Managed to get an FE card in my basket, turns out it's via Scan. Their website is slow to say the least and seems to have me stuck in a loop entering and re-entering address details. grrrrr....

Just next next finish, quick as you can with PayPal, if possible.

Overclockers fked up my waterblock delivery and I'm still stuck with the 3080 downstairs unusable, sat on the bench, and it's killing me. Hopefully tomorrow, who knows.

So once I got to the Scan basket page it loaded so slowly that I saw and clicked the standard Checkout button before the Paypal one appeared. I did click the paypal button but it ignored that and made me use their own one. Think I'm just about there...

Looks like I scored - after yet another Captcha and a few "service unavailable" messages from the Scan website I now have an order confirmation email for a Founders Edition card, delivery ETA is tomorrow to Monday. Not holding my breath though...

The Nvidia website still shows the FE cards as available to buy...

Similar story here - had a zotac 3070 in my basket went to check out sat at the car payment circle for ages pushed back to basket, tried twice gave up.

Noticed FE card was on nvidia site tried that - ended up at scan again, couldn't check out after multiple recaptcha and bank detail checks.

All out of stock at this point - grrrrrr!!!

Cheers! Well I'll still believe it when I have the card here, in my PC, running with drivers installed. Not many pages ago there are others who ended up waiting a few weeks to receive their FE 3080 cards so I'm not counting my chickens just yet.
