AMD Radeon 6000 series cards

Don't buy anything just yet, Nvidia are launching the 3070 tomorrow and they might have a few other announcements then or to come regarding Super or Ti cards.
3070 is like a 2080Ti more or less. The worrying aspect of that card is that is 'only' has 8gb of VRAM. Going forward that's potentially a problem in the future in 4K gaming. They are likely to release some other SKUs with more VRAM which might make the current cards look weaker and less desirable. There's no way I'd be buying an NVIDIA card at the moment despite being hot to trot with my Credit card for weeks now. 130R said:
6800 XT with 16GB memory for less money than the 3080 should sell pretty well.
I imagine Nvidia will panic and release a card with more memory now.
If they have availability at $650 then I'll buy the mid range card without wasting my time on Nvidia. 8gb VRAM issue is going to be a problem going forward, you would be mad to buy a RTX3070 unless you can be sure to flip it.I imagine Nvidia will panic and release a card with more memory now.

T is supported and 'super resolution' is their version of DLSS
Can't help feeling this is going to have the support and performance of DLSS 1 ie not so good DLSS2 is pretty good now despite being 'fake 4K'. Nvidia deffo have ray tracing covered. Availability and VRAM not so much!130R said:

Which is why I think they delayed the 3070 announcement until tomorrow to give them the opportunity to add a few new cards with more VRAM.I imagine Nvidia will panic and release a card with more memory now.
Question.
I have a G-Sync monitor (Acer x34p). Does that mean I'm effectively 'stuck' with Nvidia? It's an ultrawide 120hz 1440p, so there was never any danger of my 1080ti hitting the limiter, but the latest generation cards might. Looking tonight a 5000 series CPU & 6000 series card look like a brilliant match, but I'd hate to get screen tearing on a £700 monitor

TBH, I don't really care about real-time ray-tracing. I'd take a good game without ray-tracing over a mediocre game with it any day.Monty Python said:

Bizarre statement. What about a really good game with ray-tracing?
What's "bizarre"? A crap game with ray-tracing is still a crap game. To me, gameplay is more important than eye-candy.I'm not sold on real time ray tracing yet (looks pretty but sometimes makes things too shiny/reflective) but I'm look forward to seeing more games start to use it.
Just to weigh in on the Ray Tracing point, I did wonder what the big deal was but I picked up a 3080 and decided to give Control a blast, which is actually a really fun game with a great art direction and styling, but thats besides point. Some of the reflections and stuff you realise are incredibly accurate and it's pretty great to look at, it does add some genuine realism to the game and it happily runs around 80 fps at 3840x1600. It's the future

This is a good video to show the difference between screen space reflections and ray tracing. There's also a Control one
