Don't get a 6800 if you want to play Control - it's bugged and occasionally drops the GPU frequency down to below 600MHz, resulting in less than 20fps.

RX6800 currently at £12,100 on eBay - these bids can't be serious?

No. They will be folk bidding, probably with alt accounts, to make it a ridiculous number then claim can't pay. See it a lot from folk trolling the scalpers.

It's like when you see pics in twitter of guys with 25 ps5's or 30 rtx 3080 cards, filkwant to see them go down... But alsoa lot of idiots who buy from them so cycle will never end.

Tomorrow's ps5 release will be a similar st show I feel,

Looks like similar pluses and minuses as in the comparison between the RTX3080 and RX6800XT.
  • Nvidia RTX3000 series is great in Nvidia-optimised/RTX titles
  • AMD RX6000 series is great in non-optimised/non-RTX titles
However, I'd just go for whichever is available at MSRP for now (which is probably none).

Scan posted they're taking no pre-orders and that they have no stock, plus the shipping schedules aren't clear from the manufacturers.

Surely AMD had a great chance here and have squandered it somewhat. It looks more of a clusterfk than the 3000 series launch, somehow.

I'm hoping my pre-order from immediately they went on 'pre-order' is going ahead, because the last I heard on my build was that they couldn't progress due to not having my preferred PSU in stock.

I've now upgraded the PSU (for the 2nd time) and am waiting to see it actually does move on to the build stage.

Same on OCUK too. I was hoping to pick up a 6900XT in a week or two but I imagine the scalpers will beat me to it. Those bots are getting damned efficient at clearing stock on release day.

AMD already planning RDNA 3 and it's going to be a game changer (I can't believe I just said that)

https://www.overclock3d.net/news/gpu_displays/amd_...

"AMD's RDNA 3 flagship will be a multi-chip design that features 160 CUs and a total of 10,240 stream processors. That's two times as many GPU cores as AMD's Radeon RX 6900 XT, an insanity-tier graphics card that could deliver a greater than 2x performance gain over its predecessor."

I had an R9 270 for a couple of years before I upgraded to a GTX 970. Think I paid £115 for it back in 2014 (R9 370 is a slightly over clocked 270 - both GCN 1.0) .
Quite capable at 1080p medium settings at the time.

Everyone crapping on AMD's new $200 4GB RX 6500 XT GPU and rightly so. No better than 5-6 year old cards (1060 or RX 580) and unless you are running it on a PCIe 4 motherboard you are screwed on PCIe 3 anyway so hardly the first choice for a budget gamer who might be on an older motherboard.

And it is even missing video encoding functions so you'll find it hard to use the card to watch some video playback on your PC, no support for AV1 (like Netflix and youtube soon) - https://youtu.be/ZFpuJqx9Qmw?t=344

Especially when Kitguru found an AMD blog post from 2020 saying 4GB isn't enough for today's gaming - https://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/d...
