Anybody know what home phone shows caller ID?
Discussion
Been getting a lot of nuisance calls from abroad and a lot of personal accidents calls at the office and I can’t seem to find a phone online that clearly says it shows the caller ID.
Can anybody recommend a phone to buy that shows this?
A few phones come up when I google it but when I go on the link and read the description, it doesn’t say that it shows the callers number when receiving a call and I don’t want to order something, open it then see it doesn’t have this option.
Thanks in advance

I thought that unless you buy something old/remanufactured/trendy etc then almost all new phones display the caller ID? I can't remember when I last had one which didn't; certainly not in the past 30 years. Even my FIL, who generally lives at a level where he finds things like ballpoint pens to be unnecessarily new-fangled, has it on his phone and has done since I've known him. What type of phone are you looking for?
The problem with caller ID display is that some networks don't share that information with other networks, so you won't see it even if your phone has the capacity to display it. I just answer calls from numbers I recognise and ignore everything else. If it's important they'll leave a voicemail and anyone who knows me knows to text me if they can't get through.

Isn't it a service you have to pay for with your provider? My phone has the capability of displaying it but it doesn't as I didn't pay for it when choosing my phone and broadband options.
I think that might be it as the last phone I had was a new style Panasonic one. Just crazy isn’t it, 2020, you can have your Corey cut off and have a vagina created for you, you can even grow tits but I can’t find out if I’m getting a call from a withheld number unless I pay extra for it
Edit - Bin Laden also uploaded videos from a cave in Afghanistan but I can’t find out who’s calling me

Not all providers charge for Caller ID - it's free with Zen for instance.
No provider is allowed to charge for caller id: https://www.ofcom.org.uk/about-ofcom/latest/featur...Edited by babelfish on Wednesday 28th October 00:17

Re: Is there a code I can dial to include caller display?
IF it has been activated on your line, *234# turns it on, #234# turns it off and *#234# tells you the status.
If not activated you will hear "Sorry, the service requested is not available, thank you for calling."
It works with other providers to.... e.g. I'm on Sky for phone and the above codes work.IF it has been activated on your line, *234# turns it on, #234# turns it off and *#234# tells you the status.

I’d recommend a BT call guardian phone, or similar
My mother used to get lots of nuisance calls. Now a thing of the past.
Only callers in her contact list get through unchallenged.
Others have to announce themselves before the call is offered to her. Which the usual scammers don’t do .

It says who the caller is. Their name if they are in your 'phone book' thing. Otherwise it states the callers number.
No problems. It's Panasonic, so it does what it says on the tin.

Make sure all your numbers, landline and mobile, are registered with the TPS. I get very few scam calls now.

and the few calls I get usually show up as a caller id showing "International" so you know they are scams before you answer (if you can be bothered).

And you do realise, scammers can spoof any number they like?
This ! Most scammers will now use an existing number , as their SIP provider will let them show any number as a presentation one ( the number you see in caller ID )
The lazy ones will just use any random real number - the smarter ones will just spoof the number of the organisation they are are pretending to be.. so HMRC and Microsoft numbers are pretty common.
CLI is therefore only really useful for ignoring the Mother in Law and similar.
