The fact one device can let me check my work emails, do Teams calls, play games, play Spotify, browse the web, 7hr+ screen time on one charge, AND produce photos like this is crazy.

Sign me up for the S22 Ultra now, although am not sure how much Samsung can improve on these non folding phones.

Got my S21 Ultra today and the first thing that struck me was : This looks cheap compared to my S10. And the second thing was : This feels cheap compared to my S10.

I can't get over how plasticly the thing is.

Felt fine to me, like cold glass. I keep mine in a case with the S-Pen so don't notice.

It's the back that I find odd. Maybe getting a black one (which is matte) ? Everything I read says the back is glass on the ultra, but it's the oddest glass I've ever felt.

The computational photography so so nearly gets this right, nails 95% of the subject and back ground, but just cannot handle the wheels. But so so close to replicating a DSLR with a f 1.8 lens.....so so close.

Impressive though, as without the AI doing its stuff the fore/back ground separation is zero.....This computational photography is getting seriously close to overcoming the physical limits of a tiny lens + sensor.

If anyone knows a student with a Totum log-in, Samsung are offering 15% off their S21 range this weekend. Brings the 128GB Ultra down to £976.65, excluding any trade-ins.

After a good few weeks with this phone and it really is the best phone I've ever owned.

Everything just works.

Everything is really premium.

Performance and battery life top notch.

Camera ridiculously versatile.

Didn't think I'd like Samsung's version of Android coming from a Pixel, but now, I honestly prefer it, so much more configurable, and in a way, it feels more fun to use.

10/10.

Battery life has been a really unexpected bonus in additional to everything else. Am seeing 7-8hrs screen on time on a full charge thats with using the camera quite a bit. Almost double what my old S9 could manage with a smaller screen!

Sorry man, must've been either a one-off or a mistake. Currently showing as £1029 on Amazon.

Here's my order from yesterday -

This has made me paranoid enough to double check my order and my bank account. Funds are marked as pending, and the item is sold by Amazon, so would appear legit.

I'm not convinced I'll be able to handle the size of the thing though. So when it arrives, if I don't get on with it, I'll offer it to a PH'er at the same price I paid smile

I've just found out the phone rattles when you shake it. Turns out it's the camera lens and when you turn the camera on the it stops rattling. You learn some every day.

laugh I ended up googling this a few weeks ago, I was not impressed that my £1200 phone was rattling!

It seems it's been there for years. I gave the Mrs's S8 a quick shake and it rattles as well, only it's not as noticeable.

But yeah, 1200 quid for a rattlely phone !

My 512GB Ultra seems to be a bit better behaved temperature wise after a couple updates. Hopefully continues to behave.

Couple things that are bugging me:
The screen protector scratches super easy. My last few smartphones have had a total of 1 scratch (On my last P30 pro that I scratched with a key at work) but this is already peppered. At least it's replaceable and doing it's job!

Otherwise, Youtube has a glitch where after a video ends it doesn't always lock the phone automatically. I often fall asleep watching YouTube videos (I'm a crap sleeper so can end up awake until 3AM-4AM). Noticed if I fall asleep watching a video it can reman on the video end screen until I wake up in the morning. I've seen a couple folk having the same issue on the Samsung forums but no fix just yet. A bit concerned about screen burn but no issues so far.

Aside from that, it's great. The camera is brilliant and fairly fluid. The video stabilization is absolutely fantastic, used it for a couple property walkthroughs at work and you'd think I was using a gimbal. Really impressed.
