Been looking at the S21 myself as I'm due an upgrade this month, currently using a P20 Pro.

3 mobile are currently offering 0 upfront and 6 months half price rental (£38 then £76) for the ultra.
Have a look at buying direct from Samsung and going SIM only. It is normally cheaper and you avoid the yearly price rises. Samsung will let you pay for the phone interest free over up to 3 years.

With trade in and a sim only deal, mine works out to be £33/month (36 months rather than the usual 24).

£21 for the phone and £12 sim.

I'm desperate to buy one, most probably the S21, but I'm holding off for the reviews first.

No worries. What everyone forgets is that the networks increase prices by CPI plus 4% every year. That will stack up on £70+ per month. In my time doing SIM only for 12 months I've only ever either paid less, got more data or gone 4G/5G for the same price every year.

Early camera impressions seems to be very good, in theory the 13mm, 24mm, 70mm, 240mm lens on this thing has nearly every photography situation covered. S20 Ultra had AF issues but my wifes Note 20 Ultra is fine. I cannot wait for mine to arrive. Even with my S9 and one lens is getting much more use than my 'proper' EM5 II camera + lens, this thing might be the thing that puts my EM5 on to eBay, though looking at used prices hardly anyone is buying 'proper' cameras these days so might just keep it for nostalgia.

Thats the way I buy sim free and interest free and go sim only over 12 months works out much cheaper, plus no crapy bloatware and quicker firmware updates.

Aye, I've seen that, and the rest of the current "hands on" videos.

I'm waiting for the actual proper, in-depth reviews. I'm specifically interested in the cameras and the fingerprint sensor - ie is it better than the crap that was on the S10 & S20?

Saw this review which focused (SWIDT?) on the camera https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7I_SR7CzEc

Will wait for a full review as one YT vid showed the benchmarks of the 2100 vs the 888 and the 2100 was still coming up short, but that may have been a pre production model, it was unclear.

Depends on how much you care about the cameras, the camera suite on the Ultra is looking like it can replace my EM5 II with a bag of lens completely, in which case the asking price is very easy to justify.

If you have no interest in the extra options two dedicated 70mm and 240mm lens open up than stick to the S21+ as the other bits are essentially the same.

Poster is referring to jumping from the S21 to the S21+

I don't see the point of the S21+. It's just an S21 with a bigger screen and a slightly bigger battery - no other differences.

If you're going to put up with that size of phone, you might as well buy the Ultra and get the extra benefits.

The two standouts for me are the base S21 as the value proposition (and it DOES look like fantastic value) and the Ultra, with what looks to be a properly serious camera array.

The plus is in a kinda no-mans land, imo.

Still on an S9+, (after having S3, 5 and 7) see zero reason to upgrade - quite the opposite. No headphone jack so you have to buy stupid earphones that need charging, no SD card slot, big price tag for something with less functionality than the phone I already have.

I went sim only last year and will only update when this one dies, very unlikely to be a samsung either.
Same here, my S9 is perfect for what i need, at end of contract i went from £38/month to £11/Month SIM only with 100GB data and global roaming. That's a huge cost saving compared to doing a new phone contract. I could have gone cheaper with less data and in hindsight i probably will when this current 12 month contract ends, So long as the phone doesn't break i wont be changing it.

I'm not too fussed about the camera, or the bigger screen, only real benefit is battery. But it's £419 vs £599.
That will basically cover my SIM only deal when my contact expires.

The big trade in and free ear buds are also swinging it for me. My S10+ is suffering batrrery wise.

Man maths are computing !

Just don't use a one of these newer phones, seriously I was 100% happy with my S9 till I picked up my wife's Note 20 Ultra. Now the S9 feels like a toy phone, cannot wait to trade it in for the 21 Ultra.

The photography potential of the Ultra is looking amazing. What is Samsung waiting for in regards to shipping these things, they must have stock already, we've paid, just get on with it and ship them smile.

I'm in a similar boat to you - currently got an S9 contract ending next month and looking to keep it an go SIM only as I don't see the newer models as much of an upgrade, if at all.

Where did you get your SIM only contract? I'm looking at the EE website and they look a bit crap, £20 for 120GB and then the next rung down is £16 for 1GB. In reality I only need about 20 but they don't seem to offer a middle ground.
