ETH mining 101
Discussion
Has anyone noticed a reduction in ETH mining the last few days? performance seems down by 50% or so. Hash rate is fine but the shares line has gone down over time and is erratic. Is that my rig, or just something that happens over time? I'm running the Phoenix miner, pool eu1.ethermine.org:14444

bought a 3060ti could only get one, but 57.5 Mh at 115w, 58 Degrees are great numbers i think.
Yeah those are good numbers. 500kilo hash per watt. The highest that I have heard of yet (though I am a comparative noob). I have two 2080ti and a third one on the way. The watercooled one does 61.5 Mh at 140w (438kh/w) and the aircooled one does 59.5mh at 152w (390kh/w).
I've got one in each PC but I think the plan has to be to build some sort of dedicated rig rather than a pc. That's the next step!

I'm sure i could mess about but will leave it, i know from previous experience electricity costs are high so less it consumes the better. it is surprising how there are so little other coins to mine now compared to 3-4 years ago with a gpu. i will mine for a few months then sell, as just wanted it more as a hobby.I have two 2080ti and a third one on the way. All the “dedicated” cases are sold out, so as I posted earlier the cheap Amazon wire shelving unit and zip ties works really well. Bunch of usb PICE 16x risers and away you go! I just need more cards now… I have two 2080ti and a third one on the way. The watercooled one does 61.5 Mh at 140w (438kh/w) and the aircooled one does 59.5mh at 152w (390kh/w).

Can someone please explain to me - a newby - why high gas prices slow down my mining? last week my rig was mining at around $12 per day, since the last few days it has dropped to around $6. Hash rate the same, same pool, same miner.I thought gas was only needed for transactions, not the actual mining.
But I probably completely misunderstand things

Gas fees are paid to miners where did you think they go? I thought gas was only needed for transactions, not the actual mining.

Yeah but just sit pretty and mine away. Or we can just flood the market with cards in the event of a big crash
hehe - the race to offload cards if it all really falls on its ass will be amusing :-). I have 2 x 2080ti and looking for a 3rd. If this all crashes and I just lose interest, then these will be useless to have laying around.

I'm going to get into meta-speculating, buying up cheap cards in the glut and hodl'ing like mad until the inevitable upswing
Buy the dip, but it's GPUs. It must be said I am itching to get more cards zip tied to my wire shelves, there's something quite addictive about it. loudlashadjuster said:

Trouble is there are no cheap cards at the moment..........everything is totally overpriced due to low supply. 2nd hand GPUs going for double what they were new!Rojibo said:

it is funny on ebay people selling photos and empty boxes of graphics cards, hopefully no one gets stung.
I saw on Reddit some people claiming they're "doing it to trick the bots and scalpers", like sure you are and you're not just hoping to scam someone out of £1000 for a jpeg...Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
