I can relate - I am following ebay for 2080ti like a hawk.

I also am on the look out for a 3080 but am managing to currently convince myself that I will not pay above retail....
Patience is the key I think, I bought my 3080 back in October for retail, and with a bit of foresight I would have bought more, but hey ho, managed to hold firm and get the 3070 FE from Scan for retail too. Did you get the 2080ti's for retail from eBay?

Currys seems to stick close to RRP but the bots are all over it, Scan or Amazon seem the best bets and CCL are scalpng like crazy.

Hi - I already owned a 2080ti (bought a couple of weeks before the 30 series was announced..) that I bought 2nd hand two weeks old. It was an EVGA card so has transferrable warranty so I was quite relaxed about it. That was £900 vs whatever inflated retail price was (£1250 ish?).

I bought a second 2080ti the other day for £775. Again second hand but ticked all the boxes. It is quite hard to buy a good 2080ti from ebay for anything under £800.

I have a number of apps looking for stock for a 3080 at every hour of the day, so let's hope that works out. I don't think I'll buy anything else other than another retail price card as the urgency is dropping for me now I already have two beavering away.

Lucky you for getting yours at the right time :-)

Cheers

Are most of the miners just keeping the coin or trading or cashing out?

This is the crucial question.

If I buy a third gpu then really I should try and get some cash back out of my mining to pay back the cost of that third card.

The price of ETH is moving around a lot, so you do get edgey but really I only mined around 0.1 eth so far, so it is kinda just pointless anyway. So I think I will dig in till I produce 1 ETH and then start trying to decide when it is time to sell or not.

What about u?

Rhe thing with eth is the move to POS which should impact the price in a positive way.

I'm going to do one month of BTC then Eth. I'm done with Alts.

In regards to the 3060ti, it really seems a good hash to power ratio, mining at 60mh and 122kw.

I occasionally tether up when we reach a new ATH then just swing back in but that’s about it. How are you going to mine BTC, an ASIC, or just NiceHash?

speaking of coinbase, how long does the account review period usually take when once you have verified your ID? i set my account up last Thursday and its still under review so cannnot transfer fron nicehash at the moment.
Sorry for the bump, I've set up myself to mine on NiceHash during my downtime and I set up a Coinbase account so I can withdraw to PayPal.

It was approved in about 20 seconds!

Regarding 3060ti mentioned above

I have a Gigabyte super OC 3060ti

I am doing 60MH/s at 155w, I could perhaps go lower but I was having stability issues with shares too high errors.
My settings on Afterburner are :

Power limit 54
Core clock -502
Memory +1229 (seems stable so far, I could probably go higher but around 1300 I start getting errors).

I used the nice hash optimiser(as well as msi settings) and get 60 H/S @ 120w..

You could tweak it, but i always leave it if it is working.

Yeah exactly, plus maybe you got a better piece of silicon than me.
I'd rather use an extra 20 or 30w and have stabilty...!

I can see why I know someone on my social media who has a mining set up with 7 or 8 30 series cards, and plenty of 20/1660 etc . His MH/s is approaching 1000. Crazy.

I've had amazing results changing the thermal pads on my 3080 - was averaging 79 and now it's at 100 MH/s - the fans are a lot quieter now as well.

Yeah, on the vRAM, added some to the other side of the PCB as well.

I have 6 x 1080ti and I noticed a couple were struggling to produce mh/s like the others, so I took them apart, cleaned them out and re-pasted the GPUs. Wow......immediately straight back up to full performance, we'll worth it and easy to do in 10 minutes each.

3080 and 3090 have a known issue with the GDDR6X memory running hot.

Problem is all of these cards are under warranty and opening it then voids this.

Did you take any pics? Which brand/thickness of pads did you use?

Silly question maybe, but what are you all spending your coins on - are you all saving for Teslas?

What RealWorld items can you buy with crypto lately? Nerds in Uni used to mine crypto so they buy all the wares on silkroad back when it was in its infancy on Tor.

I have 6 x 2080ti and 1 x 3070.

On the basis I am doing this to amuse myself, I have them all watercooled and split across three pc cases/chasis. It isn't as financially efficient as just a mining rig/frame and air cooled cards but I would get bored of that in seconds so I set myself the projects of having them across three cases and watercooled. The temperatures are all spot on, running around 35c and producing 60 to 61mh/s and 140 watts each on average. Expensive cards to own but I feel they are nice to have gaming cards, so I was hoping they may maintain some value till 30 series are available far easier for everyone.

My son's old gaming rig has been mining for a couple of months now and he has been tweaking the OC.

He has arrived at 37.8MH/s @ 98w. 51degC with the fan at 61% Is this about right for a 2060 Super 8gb?
