Really isn’t a problem I’ll claim on my home insurance, no point me risking it. Anyway thanks to the people who did actually try and help.

You know what who cares what you lot think, there’s worse things going on in the world, like people haven’t and won’t continue to make claims. I’ve insured plenty items and touch wood never had to make a claim, everything from home insurance, car insurance, holiday insurance, mobile phone insurance electrical items etc etc why are people being morons about it. Most of you leaving negative comments probably don’t have kids so you will never know what it feels like to constantly have to replace broken items. If any of you have any idea how many months I’ve tried getting this console you wouldn’t be such losers about it, anyway whatever, I’ll get it replaced even if it Means buying a new one. I’ll stick to the car topic in future!!!
Is chan short for Chantelle? This is a mumsnet worthy rant!

I have a 6yr old. Lots of delicate electronics and equipment lying about - however she has been brought up to treat belongings well and not be destructive. We’ve never had to replace any item through damage inflicted by her, at all (other than a lilo but that hardly counts), and I’d wager many PHers are the same.

For future reference resorting to name-calling because you don’t get the response you are desiring is not a good look.

Hopefully this thread and it’s cached history courtesy of the wonders of the internet being written in ink doesn’t come back to haunt you.

It might be a bit much to think the insurance firm will go to all the effort of digging into the ps5 to find out what date and time it broke.......

It's 500quid not 50 grands worth.

No one's being a moron. They are just telling you what you were planning is fraud. You sound like a bit of a child yourself crying over a console?

Met an insurance investigator once, the way he summed it up was he only needed to catch one "water leak killed my laptop.. Oh and my phone.. Oh and.." a week to justify his employment. Catch a few a month and he gets a bonus.

Call handlers flag the oddity (high value, sudden "mysterious" demise) he then selects the cases based on experience and item(a)would be collected, couple hours investigating and then report written.

Very little actual effort for people who know what to look for. Further investigation based on how much an insurer wants to fight it... Easy monies.

Morning guys so my boy accidentally smashed the glass table our new ps5 was sat on, as a result the console is now took abit of a beating with a game stuck inside and the the usb cable and port which it sits in completely bent frown

Obviously Sony don’t offer any kind of warranty on accidental damage, but I’ve bought the console from Argos and I’ve just this second bought the 3 years cover which apparently covers accidents, anyone got any info on this cover, any good? Are my chances pretty slim?

Absolutely gutted, cannot beleive this all the endless nights I stayed up to get it and 3 weeks later it’s thrashed, never have I damaged any console like this ever and the one that cost me the most and I wanted the most is now in bits

Any help appreciated, many thanks

I missed the bit about him buying the warranty after the event.

In that case, I hope they do you for fraud.

It’s amazing how many people actually go out their ways to be awkward and make life harder for someone, just shows how sad and pathetic some people really are, truth in the matter is the people doing it are probably after one themselves lol. I won’t give you guys the satisfaction I’ll just claim on home insurance and I know if a mis hap were to occur again I’m covered under my warranty for 3 years. Happy days. If I learnt one thing in all my life is karma works in mysterious ways you help someone the Favour almost certainly is returned on the other hand if your a moron about it will happen to you in time of need. Like I said I ain’t sweating it. I’m not some geek who going to cry about my gadgets, I’ll replace it even if it means buying another. Anyone I’m done here, no point wasting my time

If you’d get back to us with what you did wrong to deserve a broken PS5 that’d be really handy.

Funny you should talk about Karma.

I'd consider defrauding an insurance company, thus increasing other people's premiums for your own good regardless of the impact on others a ripe source of future karma.

Can I have the registration number of your car and the make, model and colour?
I've got a wall that I accidentally knocked down in my garden and I want to claim on your car insurance.
Hope that's OK.

Check your house insurance covers accidental damage.
Check what the excess is.
Remember if you sell the broken PS5 then you should only claim for the difference between what you get for it and the asking price minus the excess.

Do this before you claim - any notification may put your premium up in the future even if you end up not claiming)

Why does someone have to “stay up all those endless nights” to buy a games console?
