Guess I’ll not bother then watching the DF review looked like a decent bump up using the new silicon with RT and frame gen. I’m running 1440.

Looking at Scan stock doesn’t look like I’m going to have to rush making my mind up …

The current state of gpu pricing v performance has killed any enthusiasm / interest I have at the moment.

I usually go for the sweet spot card that provides great price v performance 970 was a good example.

I splashed out on my 2070S which cost five hundred quid but I don’t want to be paying much more than that although I did flirt with a 3080 purchase.

4070 Doesn’t seem like good value to me especially with only 12gb of vram.

Luckily I have a large back cat of old Steam games to play !

After all my preaching about I’ll never buy another Nvidia card in a moment of total weakness I actually had a 4070 in my Amazon basket yesterday.

I have to say I’m pretty ashamed with myself but I’m now worrying about the crack in my resolve frown

The Mrs has commented on my moodiness and has not helped by using the words

Ffs just bloody order one ..

She doesn’t understand the complexities of the situation …

I know I will have a decent Starfield experience on the Xbox ( hopefully ) but I’m worried my poor old 2070s may not cut the mustard at ultra max Uber settings….

I’m also worried that Nvidia will release a 16gb 4070 as soon as I buy one !

I’m 54 ffs why is life still so complicated ! biggrin

Just go balls deep and buy a 4090. But don’t tell her how expensive it was unless asked.
biggrin No chance I’m rather fond of my balls and we’ve been married long enough for her to know exactly how much I’ve spent by how guilty I look….

Ah, but she did say to just order one! Unless you specified a specific model, you’re in the clear. No need to look guilty then. biggrin
That sir is an excellent point … I’ll spend this afternoon doing a risk assessment … hehe

Buy the 4090 then print out a white "7" on a dark grey background and cellotape it over the 9 on the GPU and you have a 4070. smile
biggrin Unfortunately my Mrs is much, much more intelligent than me .... I did know this when I married her so I only have myself to blame.

Buy a new one on finance and add 1100 quid to the loan for a 4080.

I caved in and bought the 4080 before the 4070 was announced, but then I was coming from a 1070 so needed to get something. Its massive! Make sure your PSU has enough ATX connectors, mine did but more by luck than judgement. Or buy the very reasonable (in $ and cm!) 4070.
It's OK magically freezer has fixed itself overnight ! I'm not hard up the Mrs just doesn't like me spending it biggrin

Tell her if you don't get one now when RTX 5000 is launched it'll be so much of an upgrade you'll have to upgrade the CPU, motherboard and RAM as well, so doing it now will save £1000.
She’s known me since BBC-B days as such trying to pull the wool is an exercise fraught with danger …. I’ll try it and see what she says …

I bought a 4070 about a month ago. Decent card but I'd leave it a month. i think GPU prices are only going one way due to extremely low demand.
Haha it’s on my desk biggrin
