upgraded to iOS 15.5 and now CarPlay doesn't work - phone won't connect.

Anyone else notice anything similar - or is it just me. Reset phone and stereo - nada

What car and wired or wireless?
I drive a BMW G20 and have had issues with CarPlay since iOS15.0. Each release has got incrementally better but still have problems connecting or (less often) crashing out.
I noticed the car was corrupting the bluetooth name - instead of correctly calling it, for instance, "Robsasiphone" it would call it something like "RobsRobsasipho" instead.
Sometimes if I just waited it would fix itself, but I deleted the profile, soft reset the phone, did a new connection and it started working again. It is annoying though.

My iPhone 12 is on IOS 15.5.

Yes I’ve had CarPlay connection just drop off in the middle of a journey. Really annoying when I’m using Waze satnav.

so. I'm using an Alpine ilx-705 head unit.
seems like its not user error then - or at least not for now !

That’s weird, I’ve also not been able to connect wirelessly to Car Play today. No problems in months until today.

I can connect by USB OK, but nothing at all wirelessly. Bluetooth is OK. Tried deleting the car from the app and reconnecting but no joy.

Just checked and I’m still on iOS 15.4.1.

Coincidence?

Quick update. Got it working again.

Updated iOS to 15.5

Deleted car from the app, deleted phone from the car MMI.

Allowed Siri access when iphone locked.

Reconnected and paired phone to car / carplay.

Worked first time.

No idea why it stopped working or why I couldn’t get if connected earlier. Only thing I did this time was update to iOS 15.5, and toggle Siri access on when locked (I’m sure this was like that previously but somehow had changed).

so, I've just found out that there is a glitch with car play and its ota handshake between certain phones and head units. apparently happened before. Chances are that it will just start working again soon.

Wish I'd made that call before deleting phone and stereo settings!

Usually ends up reconnecting eventually, can take up to ten minutes though. Apple need to sort it out properly, I would happily have iOS16 as a bug fix version.

I’ve got a Kenwood 9190 Dabs with wireless CarPlay and never had any issues in the 2 years it’s been fitted.

But the VW Discover media unit was awful for crashing and disconnecting, total waste of £1200.

As posted earlier, I had problems. Updated to 15.5 and reset all connections. Been rock solid since.
