I think this is one I will sit out for the time being. It's very impressive but I would prefer something more like an advanced Google Glass - augmented reality rather than virtual reality.
That said, if my triple-wide monitor were to go phut, then I might think about running this as an alternative.

Wise move.It feels a bit clunky and light on content - probably good for gamers, but not quite there for films.
The Vision Pro will be interesting in terms of seamlessness with other Apple devices and general quality, but it's essentially the same.

OK, was asking because I wondered if you were upgrading. I see this as potentially different to other headsets that I've played with - I'm more interested in the AR than the straight VR. And I think this could make quite a difference when working...that being said, I often sit in McDonald's or Starbucks and use their WiFi...and I don't know if I want to be noticed as I would be if I was sitting there wearing an AVP.
It was late but finally arrived yesterday late afternoon.
Typical Apple box/presentation - excellent high quality feeling.
Had a long day yesterday and an early start this morning so haven't set it up...but about to set it up after shoveling some snow now. Got the battery on charge so should get a few hours of driving and spatial computing in today

I managed to get half an hour in this morning. I am still struggling with text content. Played with the dinosaur app for a while which is really cool. Not managed to connect to my MacBook Pro yet - MBP needs an update and that was taking forever.
The biggest issue I have is that I now have a headache behind my eyes... which is not ideal!
Will probably try resetting up the headset tonight and see what happens. In the meantime, I have stuff to be getting on with and they were just slowing me down!
After 30 mins of use, definitely a toy - not a productivity tool.

I tend to agree - even more so for the Quest which is heavily games biased.I watched an hours YouTube documentary using the Quest last night, it felt cumbersome and awkward - but, a big screen, which is novel for the first 10 minutes. It feels the sort of device I might use once a week if I'm incredibly bored.
Although I am an 'early adopter' of technology, I might be in the wrong age bracket too for this device.
The Quest was/is a very good testbed to see if the Apple VP might fit into my life easily. I don't think it will.

The way the eye tracking works is very precise and impressive. No problem selecting an icon on a PH post.

I don’t really think it’s preferable.
I’ve been looking for content but it’s not an attractive proposition to sit and watch. Last night I was wrecked and sat on the couch with my wife to watch a little TV. There’s no way I would put this thing on.
I was in LV last week and had the opportunity for a demo with the Vision Pro in the Apple shop. I'm a apple fan and like my toys and gadgets, but I'm not sure it will be another mainstream apple product. However, its Apple, so of course it will sell !!
Firstly, the experience was quite mind blowing, however to caveat I've never used a virtual relaity headset before ever. The demo takes you through the simple use of double tapping fingers to select apps etc and then there are some really cool video's / pictures to show of the immersive experience. The usual under the sea with sharks, feeding rhinos and standing on top of a mountain ..... The thing that really got me was a video of a kids birthday party which was in 3D and I just imagined how powerful this experience would be if I was actually related to the content or the people in the video had passed away etc.
On the plus points, I can see that it would be a better experience to watch a film, photos etc, and maybe even working with huge windows would be more efficient than traditional screens.
I was very tempted to buy one (despite the apple ID iddues) as they will certainly be more expensive once launched in the UK, however when I considered what I would end up using it for (watching films, videos, photos etc), part of the pleasure of these experiences is to do it with someone, not just on your own with some goggles on your face !! With all the technology/social media etc fighting for our attention already, Im really not sure it would be healthy and I think we all need to try and be more 'present' with our loved ones.
I decided not to buy one, despite how impressive the kit was.... I may live to regret it and end up falling for the apple hype and buying in the future !!
