Knackered DV IN - any ideas how to fix?

I won't bore you with the how's and why's - lets just say that I plugged the Firewire connection into a USB 2.0 socket and connected my Canon MV3iMC. Since then (now I've corrected the mistake and tested the Firewire with another camera) my camera won't connect via the Firewire connection.

I guess this could be due to the USB connection sending power down the cable?

Anyone any ideas if/how this can be fixed? Otherwise, camera is good.
