I want to have a backup system which is large enough not to have to worry about the fact that I am backing up home videos etc.
Looking at the Buffalo Terastation etc as these seem to be well regarded.
What is the difference between the Terastation and Terastation Home server (I'm obviously being thick but help me out here!).
I want to be able to store files on this box rather than on the PC, or at least have a zero hassle backup system in place (does the memeo software do this?) as well as backup the laptop and media centre PC.
If the Terastation is connected to the Broadband router can it operate independent of any given machine (i.e. will be be available to the SONOS and laptop when the two PCs are switched off)?
If I want to have a second terastation to mirror the first, or at least some element of the first one is this possible? Ideally this would be wireless and hidden behind some panelling so that if some scrot stole all the PCs in the house they woudln't get all the data.
Many thanks in advance

Forget the Buffalo stuff, it's rather expensive. Look at www.thecus.com . I have a N2100 with mirrored 750Gb drives. I'ts plugged into a gigabit switch and acts as Itunes, movie, file and backup server. And yes .. it's in a wall !!
I think that they do a 54G i/f for it as well, but you'd be miles better using cat5 and gigabit, especially if you are backing up dvd's ... Think throughput here !! You can get a switch for less than £100
Think it came to around 350 all in.. a few months back
