How do I set iTunes on my PC to load with the highest processor priority settings?

I can do it after its loaded from Task Manager manually, but I'd like it to be automagically set correctly when i start the app.

Don't take this the wrong way but... why?

I think... ohh god... tip of tounge, called something like Task Commander might be able to do this but not sure.

If i have the machine doing other things whilst i'm working, iTunes starts to stutter. I'd prefer iTunes to be interupted and my other non processor critical apps to take a momentary hit.

I'll look up Task Commander. Thx

Task Manager / Process / right click on process name (iTunes.exe or whatever) Set Priority / High (Highest will really make other things suffer!)

or just upgrade

Try this...

Create a shortcut icon to iTunes, then right-click on it and select Properties.

In the Target field, add the following to the START of the line:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c start /abovenormal ""

Note: there should be a space between the empty quotes and the existing contents of the field - e.g. C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c start /abovenormal "" "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe"

Click OK to close the properties dialog, then try running iTunes from this new shortcut. Fingers crossed, it should load up as normal, and then you can check the priority by going through the usual Task Manager route...

On another Itunes subject,
just downloaded an album and would like to know how to convert the M4P format to MP3
Or is it just easier to download somewhere else like tesco?

Good to hear - took me a while to persuade the forum software to correctly display all the backslashes, and the formatting was still a bit messed up so I was hoping you'd understand what the commands were supposed to look like! Note that if you need to up the priority even further, you just change the /abovenormal to /high or /realtime (and if you need to run any other apps with a lower than normal priority, /belownormal or /low)

We've had a thread about this. Basically, there are shops that offer music in mp3 without DRM, but if they offer what you want to hear is another matter.
