My colleague in tyhe UK has had a major problem with Bulldog. He alerted them that he wanted hi account moved over to be billed to him rather than his previous employer back in June.

Nothing ever came of it, and just before christmas they cut his ADSL link.

Now he's been onto them on the phone for the last week and they've indicated that all they can do is intsall a new line.... which will take 25 days - something to do with not allowing two accounts on one line... FFs - I don't really understand the intricacies, but needless to say he needs to get on-line again ASAP for work.

Now assuming he can get his MAC code released how long typically is it going to take him to get back online?

And can anyone recommend an ISP that will process this quickly?

thanks for any advice.

Think it was about 7 days.

However, they are now LLU so if hes in an unbundled exchange area then it maybe quicker.

thanks, do you know if they do a Static IP Service? They have a 'private dsl' package that sounds like it might give you a static IP, but that only runs to 2Meg.

I think its an option, I run DynDNS as I dont have VPN concerns but I'm sure they do.

IDNet are very good, the service comes with a static IP. With a MAC code you should be able to migrate between 3 - 7 days.

Have used andrews and arnold for rapid deployment in the past usually 4 days. Support guys know what they are on about, not the cheapest ISP but pretty reliable. Continuous line quality monitoring with sms notification when offline.

I used Demon. Not the cheapest but great service. Very little downtime in over 3 years, fixed IP, good support, they've been around forever so won't disappear once they have your money. 8 Meg link.

Escaped from eclipse after my weekend browsing fell to 250kbps or less, seems they ran out of bandwidth or something, can't recommend them

if he is onbulldog with LLU, either transfer to another LLU isp or do a cease and install, no mac needed but it is not cheap

am with www.merula.net £40 for no caps, throttles, nerfs unlike several i can think of
