Following an unfortunate incident involving my 14month old daughter, a beaker of milk, and my laptop, my insurance company is replacing it with something shiny and new.

They have offered a Toshiba Satellite Pro U200 which is a very small (12" screen) lightweight thing, or an IBM Lenovo, which has a 15.4" widescreen but is essentially the same spec.

Looking at the cost of those, the budget is circa £800, so is there anything I should err towards as they said I can choose within reason!

Thanks

Dell, Tosh, Lenovo, Fujitsu, Philips, Acer... pick on that you like the look of and has the features you want.

Personally, given the choice I'd not have a Lenovo as my personal machine; my experience on a T40 left me thinking "that sucks". And a super light weight machine can still run a large external display.

Imagine you get less for the money as you're paying a touch for the name but I can't fault the Sony Vaio. Been very impressed. I think you need to try a few as the touch of them really does vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
