I'm due to receive a new PC with Vista bundled as well as a free copy from Microsoft for attending one of their developer launches.

Previously I've used Zone Labs Zone Alarm which has been fairly good after falling out with Symantec when they launched an upgrade which wouldn't install and no amount of tweaking/speaking to tech support could I get used to it.

For those that have already gone with Vista, which anti-virus are people using?

If you are used to ZoneAlarm then the Internet Security Suite does me OK. Firewall and A/V all in one - however not compatible with Vista yet

Using an evaluation of nod32 at the moment, seems fine.

I recently got rid of AVG and replaced it with Avast on 3 machines and Avast found viruses on all of them!

Was that AVG Free or the paid-for one?

Were they in the AVG vault?

I've always used a combination of the free Zonealarm (alongside my netgear router firewall) and Nod32 for anti-virus...and so far i've not had a virus or spyware problem for about 3 years

I've also just moved to Vista, and it seems that the free zonealarm isnt available for Vista yet...although i have'nt tried installing the old one to see if that works.

Yes, apparantly no support from Zone Labs is very fustrating and no indication of when a Vista release will come means that I think that will be it for Zone Alarm for me (I suspect they will lose loads of business to other vendors in the meantime).

Heard of a few problems with Avast in a review.

Sophos are unfortunately out although I do rate them, due to the fact that they cost 10 times the price of all other vendors because they only appear to sell in bulk (5 licences).

Symantec produce very bloaty software in my experience, which is a bitch to uninstall if you want to do so. Having said that the stuff does work and is ready for Vista.

I'm wondering about one of the other vendors, looked Fsecure which is rated by PC pro.

I use Kapserksy, which is very slick. Windows Live OneCare looks pretty good too, believe it or not.

I've discounted Windows Live OneCare since it failed recent virus tests miserably and deleted valid emails banghead

I fell out with ZoneLabs and dumped it for Avast and Sygate even though I'd paid for ZoneAlarm Internet Security and had 8 months left in my subscription. A major version they released for 4 months had massive problems meaning my MSN client wouldn't work and nor would a lot of programs such as Skype.

When I ask for tech support, I was ignored and eventually I complained and got kicked off their forums, because I told them they had monkeys as programmers and the crappiest tech support I'd even experienced.

Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole again.
