Had a Nokia 6300 on Orange contract for nearly a month and noted that the battery is lasting barely TWO DAYS before demanding recharge. Nokia quote Talk 3.5hrs and Standby 14.0 days!

Properly charged up when new; usage is light - only calls and texts, with up to half an hour per day max on calls.

Have you set it to power save mode where the screen goes blank when its not in use?

Its a big power hungry screen, so that makes a huge difference to the battery life - I'm squeezing a few days out of mine, and i use it for a few hours of calls a day..

AS above.
I've got a screen saver on, sleep mode on and power save on. That might help a bit.

Also make sure the battery is completely dead and the sphone turns itself off before recharging.
I can get about 4 -5 days with few phone calls!!

I've had my 6300 for a couple of months now and it get's charged once a week. Even then the battery is only half empty.

It can take several full charge/discharge cycles for the battery to hit peak performance. Basically both it and the phone need to calibrate themselves. Stupid question: Did you do the 24hr first charge?

Had the phone six weeks. Powersave on. Screensaver off etc. Lasts about 2.5 days.

In my experience the battery life claims from phone companies is absolute BS and should really be investigated by one of the many busy body EEC commisions.

Most phones (and laptops) I've had will somewhere in the manual state that for maximum battery life, plug it in and leave it alone for 24hrs. Did with my old 6680 and it still goes for a week between charges... and my Dell XPS laptop gets a good 3 - 4 hours out of a single charge.

  • shrug* I'm not up on battery tech but it seems like leaving the equipment sat on charge for 24 hours does do 'something good' hehe

Just stick the phone on to charge this weekend and leave it alone. Might do the trick.

I know they used to say this, but my last few phones have not mentioned it, and I assumed this was down to the more modern batteries. The 6300 manual certainly doesn't mention it, but in fact does say not to leave a charged battery connected as overcharging may shorten its lifetime.

Mine hasn't needed charging after an overnight first charge, but I shall report back in a couple of weeks if the useful life is significantly different to what Nokia claim.

To be honest... the battery and charging circuit should be intelligent enough to go 'enough' and just trickle charge as needed. But, having said that I habitually do the 24hrs plugged in thing and get the above results, but as with anything YMV.

Well I have had my 6300 about six weeks now, and I too am disappointed. The shop had charged it ready to go - so I have no idea what they did, but I have made sure its been discharged a few times and given a good full charge. Mine is showing about 50% on the indicator after only about 6 hours and is flat as a pancake in 24hours!!

I was wondering if there are higher performance batteries to replace the original BL-4C - because otherwise it's a smashing 'phone!

I've had mine since May, and the baatery is OK, but not great. I suppose it's about 2-3 days depeding on usage. If it's flat after 24 hrs something's not right, unless you're talking on it for all of those 24 hours of course.

Someone should have told me about this when i bought my laptop. can only manage about 45 mins before shutdown. Then again it's a 5 year old lappy with the original battery.

Doesn't sound good - my 6300 goes a week between charges (and easily lasted a 4 day stag do in Copenhagen - with all the "where's the stag" phone calls). I suspect you may have a duff battery.

There's been a recall recently on bl-5c's - don't know if 4c's were affected though.

I rarely get more than a couple of days out of my 6300 either. Coming from a 6310i this was obviously a bit of a shock. smile
