am i being thick? i have just tried to connect a new work laptop that runs vista to my Samsung ML4500 printer and it says "windows cannot connect to the printer. the printer driver is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks NT 4.0 drivers"

is the printer not compatible or something, i have downloaded and ran the latest drivers but still no joy.

Any takers????

The drivers are probably 'kernal mode' drivers - which Vista explicity doesn't allow. You need 'user-mode' drivers. Need to check if Samsung have released a 'Vista' driver for the printer. Failing that, just use the good old HP4 printer driver, you'lll probably find that it works just fine.
