TBH I'm really not at all impressed by most mobile internet packages. I've had one on my last two phones, and I've found they just stop working after a while and no-one at Orange, either in the shops or on the helplines, knew how to sort it out other than 'get another phone' (it doesn't matter much to me so I haven't). Other people with mobile internet seem to find their phones crashing a lot - and that would seriously boil my piss especially as I only want to make phone calls most of the time.

Sounds like the BT line might be the best bet but I'll see what the landlord's doing with this intercom system first before bothering him - for all I know he could be routing through some telephone cables himself (although I could do with a master socket anyway).

Yeah, Voda snuck that Vodem price reduction in very quietly ! No hassle to get the new price though. To be honest I am sure I go over the 2gb limit on occasions, but have never had any trouble. No doubt if you were trying to run your companies web access via it they might complain.

HSDPA goes to 14.4 Mbps. Currently getting 546kbps according to Speedtest.net. Usually get just under the 1Mbps line, which is absolutely fine for normal surfing.

3G/HSDPA works well in many more places nowadays. And considering the cost of wifi in hotels, £25/30 a month can be recouped pretty quickly if you work away.

Linksys make a very good wireless router that accepts the voda 3G card.. means you cant use the dashboard software to monitor usage but it does make like a little bit more cable-free. Just make sure its zipped up like a nuns underwear because you do not want someone freeloading it and downloading bit torrents..!

Right. Having spoken to the landlord, he's 'sorting something out' as regarding phone lines in the building anyway, but 'it'll be some time'.

So I'll give mobile internet another chance. Anyone know any good deals/value-for-money handsets that send and receive hotmail and (maybe) can get me on PH and B3ta?
