Where to buy a 2nd hand laptop?

Further to my recent topic on what laptop to buy I have settled on the idea of a Thinkpad (T40/T41/T42/T43 - as an aside if somebody can tell me what the differences are between them I would be very grateful!)

Just not sure where to buy - there are loads on ebay, but it's a bit of a risk and some of them are bound to be shonky / knackered / etc.

I know there are some companies who specialise in refurb'ing laptops (some of them use ebay!) but is there anybody who can be recommended? Is there an official IBM outlet for used laptops? Not looking to spend any more than 300.

Whatever T series you get, look for one that ends in P. My T41p is of a far better spec than the standard T41. P usually gives better graphics, higher res screen and sometimes a trackpad mouse.
