Entry Level Laptop which one?
Discussion
I am looking for a entry level laptop for just browsing the net some word/excel type work. and possibly some minor image editing of holiday snaps (cropping and putting borders etc around them etc)
I have been looking at:
Acer
Dell
and HP
All of these have 1Gig Ram, and either a entry level celeron processor, or a AMD processor and are less than £400
I have a decent workstation at home so just wanted something for browsing from the sofa and garden. any recomendations?
Thanks

Thanks for the comments on the Acer
My short list is

http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/HP_530_GH637AA/vers...
Or a Dell for a mx of £400
Problem with the HP is that it only has 512 RAM and Vista Basic. I wanted Vista Premium for the few little extras that are included

what's wrong with an Acer laptop before I spend my hard earned??
No clue, considering it's probably come from the same factory and has the same parts as the Dell, Mitac, Novatech, et al inside it... I'd say if it's the one you want, has the features you want and at the price you want, go for it.Thus follows Sarah's standard warning.
Get the best waranty package you can; preferably with accidental damage cover. Onsite, Next Business Day, if you can afford it (or if it's an option), or simply Onsite if you can't.
Make sure the laptop is covered by your household contents insurance; if you need to pay a minimum premium increase and/or list it seperatley do so!
That way, if you spill tea/coke on it, step on it, drive over it or some scrote nicks it. You're laughing. You're also covered if it goes wrong and with the onsite support package you don't have to wait around for weeks on end whilst it's shipped to 'somewhere', fixed and shipped back.
Thus ends Sarah's standard warning.
