OK, any help or tips anyone can give would be helpful.

Yesterday the graphics card decided to go kaput in the desktop.

[Symptoms: screen started to freeze up and on reboot we just get the long beep, two short beep code and "no input" on the screen - and its no surprise, since that card is about four or five years old, has endured two rebuilds and was starting to struggle with the new screen and some apps anyway.]

So I have picked up a replacement with a bit more oomph while I am about it, but, of course, with the old one "dying" on me I cannot uninstall the drivers or change any settings on the BIOS.

So now I am as far as the stage of re-seating the new card and it gets as far as the Post Stage Award Code 25 for which I can see "take it out and put it back in again" as the suggested cure.

[We're talking Abit AS-8 mobo / old card: ATI Radeon 9000 AGP 4X (I believe)/ new card: PNY Geforce Nvidia 7300GT AGP8X and I did check that Mobo should take 8X]

Scratches head in a Homer Simpson kinda way.....

Is there a jumper or button on the motherboard you can use to reset the bios?

Ah - sadly, that hasn't helped... frown

Double, and treble checked that the new card is seated correctly and tried to clear the CMOS three times using the right jumper.

What do I try next? scratchchin

Tunku - I have to elevate you to the status of genius!

It never occurred to me that I needed to power the new one, since the old one didn't need it banghead
