Has anyone out there, oooh, perchance maybe got something like a Java applet that, oh, lets say, does the equivalent of pressing F5 every few seconds. Perchance maybe ?

Just wondering ....

f5 doesnt do much for you,

Ctrl-F5 would be better. Actually forces a refresh from the server, and not any interim proxies etc.

But as for you title, this wouldnt even come close to being a DOS, more a fcuk up for the sites stats... and probably not even that.

Thanks for the tips.

Depends how mainstream we're talking ... I'm thinking small site here (probably hasn't much bandwidth)

But if you still think it's a waste of time ...

yeah, even a DSL line would stand a constant refresh.

Its just not intensive enough.

If you want to take them down, contact their host with a legitimate reason

If its for personal gratification,

then ask yourself how you fancy Jail Food whilst ppl dont think it, it is a Criminal Offence, and can and should result in prosecution...

Just a shame it doesnt..

thats not to say there arent times when its a good option.. like anything... but on the whole, dont do it.

It ends up costing someone lots of money..
