Recovering data from hard drive?
Discussion
I had two power cuts yesterday and as a result, my PC no longer boots. When I switch it on the lights come on but it does not even run the BIOS.
I am currently using an old PC I had laying about with the memory installed from the 'broken' one.
I have stuff (music etc.)on the old hard drive which I would like. Fortunately I had all my really important stuff backed up with mozy.com which I have recovered.
Is there a device I can use to interface the hard drive with an external USB drive? The old PC has different connectors so I can't slot it in there. The hard drive is a Maxtor DiamondMax 300GB SATA150 if that helps. If there's not an interface method, what's the best way to get the data off?

Id' be surprised if you'd not be able to plug the old drive into the new machine or that a power cut could cause the PC to die. But be that as it may there's loads of external USB hard drive caddies you can buy, pop the drive in there and copy them over.

I would hazard a guess it is just the mobo that has gone - everything else should be fine.
The PC is four or five years old so time for a change anyway I think. I've already ordered another one.Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
