I can get full screen RDP no problems on the laptop, but not on the external. This funnily enough used to work OK on XP, but has since stopped since going to 7.
Don't know if that's changed in 7 but I think in XP you get the resolution of the primary monitor in an extended desktop situation, so if you re-assign the external monitor as the primary one Robert should be a good friend of your mother?

But won't that put the taskbar etc. on the external monitor? I like having the external one as a second monitor.

Probably but hey - beggars & choosers, right?

I use ObjectDock as a taskbar replacement and that lets you position it where you like and on whichever monitor you like.

Here's how to do it if you're running Windows Server 2008 (where its called RemoteApp):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_Desktop_Servic...

Am sure there's a way of doing this on older MS Server OSs, but can't remember how/what it's called atm.

or just open a second session to the same server put one session on the laptop display and the other on the external display.

That should work

If you want to open two RDP sessions you may be better off using the /v switch to open the console on one, otherwise it will try and connect to the already open session

Try initiating TWO concurrent RDP connections to the remote server.. Windows 2000/2003 server allows two independent connections to the same server - I do this all the time by accident when I forget I am already connected! You may be able to move the two RDP sessions to two different monitors. Does that do it?

There is a MMC plug in , which I think you install off the server CD onto your PC so you can have 4 terminal serrver sessions in the on window.
