I ticked the developer option in my polish 4.0 rom to enable GPU for all my biznizz last week. It's good, not that arsed about nice swooshy transitions but I think overall it's had a positive effect on battery & responsiveness. Not seen any negative side effects yet. But I'm not an app we.

I frikking love my phone at the moment. I did a long weekend in Wales just and the phone was absolutely rocking it. Nav to destinations for an hour or two, snap quick pics all day, Nav home, keep on top of emails, bit of facebook and still loads of battery. Perfection in plastic form.
How the chuff did you manage that? Mine barely lasts a day with extremely light use.
I dunno! No witchcraft involved... I just took these now this is a fairly typical day for me - I only used the LPG finder twice over the weekend so not sure why it's still on my list here will have to make sure I close it properly in future.

It is a feature of ICS.

Anyone else getting an annoying symbol in the notification bar every time you are inputting text, telling you to chose which input method...even though I have about 100 bloody times.

Gingerbread has that as well. Settings > About > Battery Usage.

So... as we know the S3 is coming "soon", why aren't the prices of the S2 dropping yet?

I've decided to get an S2 but I thought I'd wait a bit until the drip-feeding of details about the S3 slowed down sales, and consequently lowered its price.

But nothing seems to be changing (in fact the price on Amazon went up a few weeks ago). frown

Well, it'll deffo drop when the S3 is finally there. For now, the S3 is still a rumor, no release date set and then even no availability date set.

Don't forget that the S2 is still the top-of-the-crop of the phones. The Galaxy Nexus is up there as well. The others are "in the pipeline". Why drop the price already of something that is still lonely at the top?

If the rumored specs of the Galaxy S3 are true then it is well and truly going to make every single phone on the market look like a toy. Apparently it is going to have a quad core CPU, 2GB Ram, 4.8" 1920x1080 display. Imagine if that is true, it would make every single phone on the market obsolete overnight.

Only on paper, nothing will be yet coded for quad core CPU's so it's of minimal benefit.

My SGS2 is no faster than my old iPhone in real world use. In some instances it's slower.

All other things being equal, surly any thing that uses threads, should perform better on more rather than less cores?

A properly configured S2 simply IS faster to use than any iPhone other than the 4S. I'll grant you the iPhone is generally not slow, but compared to my old ip4 the SGS2 is simply faster everywhere - but you do have to change the software in some cases...

Well my SGS2 has broken after 4 months.

The earpiece is buzzing during a call, very annoying and very distracting, also pretty disappointing as it's never been dropped/got wet etc. etc.

I've wiped my phone and flashed the LPQ firmware. Is there anything else I need to do to make it 'stock' again before I go in-store?

My screen packed up a week or so ago, luckily got the work done under warranty..

Is anyone else finding ICS incredibly over rated? All it seems to have done is slow my phone down, worsen the battery life, and cause more freezes...

Yep. Though I'm not a fan of gingerbread either so from all the rave reviews was expecting a lot.

I see very little improvement.

One annoyance with the official ICS updarte is the only way to find out your battery percentage is to go into battery stats, oh and weather on the homescreen just tells me it's zero degC all the time.

Totally agree, slowed phone down, battery life definitely less and some apps crash quite a lot now.

Can't think of an improvement made that I'll benefit from. Would go back if I knew how to.

Very easy actually, search for the firmware on xda-developers.com then run a program called 'Odin' to flash the firmware to your phone.

Thanks Richy, I used Odin to update so do I just need to pick the right ROM and do the same process?

Yup! I'm doing the same as my phone is faulty and needs to go back.
