Had mine for a year and my commute mon-Fri takes me down horrendous country roads. Pot holes, scratchy bushes, mud. Been solid throughout. I will be honest I treat it very badly. Halfords services, cheap oil, tyres etc. Been like a rock throughout. Mine was a good example to be fair. But following a 2008 GS300, I daresay this has been more reliable. X

WOW E320 CDi I so love this car, It's my dream car, Its not so much each time I drive it, its a drive around the block, each time is an adventure, and so much power and economy, only regret i didn't buy one sooner, and no one likes these Diesel bad boy cars, Try one you might be surprised, ???

I own the Post 2006 Face life version.

Mainly aluminium, only has one rusty bolt at the front, Only things I have replaced (over 103k miles) are front springs. rear springs, and brake pads and disks all around, and an exhaust bracket. Has an intermittent turbo shake (Car stutters) believe its the Turbo vanes not opening on occasion (Variable Vane Technology) but really rare issue,, I'd definitely recommend this car, has real shove only 6.6 secs to 62 and have had an indicated 157 MPH in Germany.

Go on test drive one you wont regret it!

I have a 2003 E320 CDI and I’m a huge fan. Mine has 124k on the clock and just passed its MOT needing a track rod end. I get a genuine 47-48 MPG from it and it’s a really nice place to be sat.

Not sure if buying with 104k on the clock means issues were ironed out but for the two years I’ve owned it, I can’t recommend it enough.

I'd just like to throw my two cents in there, so to speak. Seeming as a lot of people are reporting many issues and I've seen a lot of comments saying, 'never again' etc.

I bought an e320 CDI estate 58 reg in Feb 2018, it had about 62K miles on the clock and a very sparse service history. However, I took the risk and got it cheap, which you'd expect!

Since Feb 2018 (currently Nov 2018 with 73K miles), I've had to do bugger all to it really! I've had it MOT'd, which it cruised through with no advisories aside from tyre wear. I've had the glow plugs changed out of choice, as they were bound to need it before 100K and I've just booked it in for it's first service under my ownership, which as you'd expect would be a full service!

However, my point being I bought for cheap, with bad service history and it's ran like a dream so far! Maybe I'm lucky and it's just a, 'good' car, despite it's poor history.

Mercedes build quality and general car quality is fantastic in my 6 month experience!

I bought a 2006 CLK 320CDi last December and in 11 months have covered 11k miles. Only issue has been a replacement LED repeater in the mirror at mot time and one service at an indi.
Love the acceleration.

I also brought a 58 plate E320cdi last nov2017 for £2800 and aside from a major service and replacing all the fluids it cost me nothing apart from the usual fuel/tax and insurance and has covered 11000 miles since buying.

Mine rusted, needed a new manifold, new springs and shocks, rusted some more, had 2 new turbo seals, random electrical warnings.

Otherwise it was good. If you want a car that actually works, buy a Lexus.

To add my two-penny-worth... I bought an E320 CDI Estate in 2001 and still have it - just. It needed two new front wings five years ago because the rust was so bad you could put your finger through them; there was also a tiny gap in the rubber glass surround of the tailgate and that let water in so there's no a hole in that too.

It did need something electrical and expensive about five years ago, but now the window motors are starting to go. One went a year ago, now I fear the driver's window motor has gone. The battery expired the other day, but that was the original so I can't fault it for lasting about 18 years.

It looks pretty tatty but it still goes really well, but these window motors and regulators are expensive. The car is only worth less than a grand, so I'm thinking of buying a secondhand C320 estate for around £6k, or a Freelander. Any other suggestions gratefully received.
