Allan, you are about 8 hours from me now , I'm in Oban, it's almost a different time zone....
but it's about as far away from me as you can get without falling into the English Channel!
I can guarantee both the time zone and channel points; I've just started a job in a landlocked part of the continent so Oban would be quite the adventure!but it's about as far away from me as you can get without falling into the English Channel!
Good luck whatever you get. I would slightly echo Z's point about family trips being a slight distraction. It seemed important to my lot but after, well maybe once, that was the end of that! In fairness, my girls are slightly older but their interest in driving in daddy's old cars waned pretty schnellish.

I really like your car but not so much that I want to see the same post three times
similar maybe, thank you and why not, owned it a long time, if anyone actually came to see it on the occasions I did advertise it rather than buying the cheapest they can find before haemorrhaging money fixing it, I wouldn't have it to talk about haha ;O) Anyhow............... new Continental CSC3 tyres are here, and the wheels are back!! I've opened brand new wheels for customers in worse condition, so overall I think these are a result...well only looked at one so far haha.
The delivery driver was talking about the car looking sad on stands......., asked to see inside, "still smells like new", has it been re-trimmed? Haha, nope, it does smell like new 'cos it's only got 28k and much of that was 800 mile round trips over the last twelve years, starting from 16k when I bought it, 1 previous owner,............ still, he wasn't going to buy it, but hey. It's nice, so I like responding when they ask.
Not quite like the cars for sale with all the excuses under the sun why it's up for sale again at owner 12,
Does have some suspension surface rust I was rubbing off with my fingers yesterday, much of it has grease on as well but would benefit from a proper clean. I keep thinking about removing it all and having it powder coated, but I think that's only if a buyer wants in exchange for a top price. Not much point otherwise as it won't be for me, anyway, for twenty years it's nicer than many under here considering it hasn't been touched ...................
I've got some rear discs and will likely get the fronts too, and I may do some bits. For now, the wheels are ace, I'll get them on and we can drive around without worrying the cracks will open up that bit too much seeing as the originals were still on haha.
What it worth is the question soon I guess, I think it'll probably end up abroad, I won't use it if I keep it so Italy in July, and we'll see after August. I suppose I could do an owners cars thread. I have too much interest in the other cars though, especially the last pic to finish which needs more than a few days haha. Then another I haven't even seen for around three years or more sat in storage, welding stopped play a long time ago haha.

Mine is currently in a well known SL specialists as they work their way through a long list of jobs that I want doing
Likely to be there for a few more weeks, by which time I suspect the good weather will break.
looks like the SL shop, mine was in for a new roof, only 10mins from me. Likely to be there for a few more weeks, by which time I suspect the good weather will break.

Top marks for guessing the location. In fact I saw them fitting your hood when I took mine down there initially in March.
Although I wanted to get the hood replaced on mine, I’m postponing that until next year on cost grounds. My intention is to start using the car much more regularly, and so am focusing the spend on getting the car in as good a shape mechanically as my first priority
I didn’t get the car directly from Mark Taylor, but it is one that passed through his hands. When I was looking for an SL in the first place, i contacted Mark to see whether he had any coming his way,, and he pointed me in the direction of the trader he had sold this one onto
I’ve had. It about 7 years now, and feel guilty in saying that I’ve hardly used it in that time. As most on here know, lack of use causes all sorts of issues, hence the long stay at the SL Shop to get them resolved
Re the strut brace, then that’s one I fitted myself. Does it make a difference? - well I think it has eliminated a few creaks and rattles on rough surfaces, and of course it looks nice when polished
After reading all the praises on here about 129’s, I’m really looking forward to start using it in earnest

It was probably the thought of the cost of the cables that caused a nervous twitch and hence multiple posts.
Mine does indeed need cables replacing as they are somewhat frayed, so thanks for the heads up
Will let you know when the car is finished, and would appreciate comparing notes on the respective cars

Thanks for that. Will certainly look around when the time comes
The big cost for me will be the one of the main hydraulic rams that leaks fluid at an alarming rate.
Not used them but these guys have a good rep, and will courier to the UK.The big cost for me will be the one of the main hydraulic rams that leaks fluid at an alarming rate.

If ones gone pound to a penny the others are on there way too, consider refurbing all of them,
Grateful for some help. My rev counter looks like it's rotated out of alignment so I whipped out the cluster intending to rotate it. However, it is not loose and appears to be aligned as intended within the cluster. So my question is; are they all like this? Car is a late 1996 build. Thanks.
The revcounter clearly needs to be rotated clockwise a little bit, agreed? (Look at the "x100 1/min" text relative to the brake wear warning light below it):
Hmm, it's not loose at all and the alignment of the little tab at the top suggests it's mounted as intended:
Are they all like this? The problem is that I can't stop looking at it

I recall reading r129sl’s post about the rotating rev counter face and thinking “how strange”. Some time later, I suddenly notice the dial in my car is rotated - I’ve yet to investigate, but I really think it was not like that when I bought it, and something causes it to happen long after the car is assembled.
