Womb-like and comforting - I like it too! You don't often see internal and external colours so close in hue though. As you've noted, some colour mis-match. Wheels and indicators aren't exactly period correct, but I could live with them.

The big thing is to check the roof. Then check it again. And then again. And ... well, you get the idea.
Thanks for your reply, re the roof I take it you mean check it works as it should rather than check the cloth for any damage?

Wonderful colour scheme, just a pity it's not a V8. Price seems keen-ish though

Yes, check the function. The quality of the roof is pretty poor to be honest, but that's normal. Just make sure it works properly. They are great cars and well worth the ownership experience.

And obvious to most (myself excluded) do the roof with the engine running.
Interior looks great btw.

The red on red car looks great at the money. It's not that far from me but I don't recognise it. It looks to me like the front wings and bonnet have been done. You might want to get it checked out by Baister.

This one is wearing its 175,000miles very well, although there are some corrosion alarm bells in the MOT history.

Hi
Quick question if anyone is able to help please?

ADS (I think) is leaking again and car is booked in to Terry at WG tomorrow. I'm going to buy a litre (or whatever it comes as) of the hydraulic fluid in case it goes too low on the drive (light isn't on yet but it is just below the min line) and I get stranded.

The question is: what's the fluid? There was a post I was reading on an MB forum that said the 2001 doc said X and a 2006 doc said Y. It's not that I don't trust an MB dealer but I suspect there's greater knowledge on here.

Many thanks.

ETA link to thread: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/mercedes-benz-...

The 2001 fluid recommendation is this: febi bilstein 02615 Hydraulic Fluid ZHm (Yellow)

I believe it is ZHM hydraulic fluid - Febi 02615 is a decent substitute if you don't want to go down the dealer route.

Having just sold my R129 I have still in my garage the correct factory hard top shuttle

This is the one that makes removing top a person job, looks like an engine hoist, rolls under the car.The car can also be driven forward over it with the hard top on, it also allows the hard top to be stored whilst hanging, truly over engineered like the R129.

Took me an age to find

it is in very good condtion but needs a big van to collect

I am located in south Croydon CR2

I also still have a panoramic roof in brilliant silver ,perfect blinds...and new rubber seals fitted.

PM me foe more info

Hi Nav,

I don't suppose you have a spare radiator too do you? cry

I've spoken to the SL shop about refurbing as originals and replacements are NLA. Does anyone have experience of any trusted radiator refurbishers please? SL shop want £500...

It seems all they (W Gates) can find is a very slight weep on a pipe above a valve block nowhere near where the leak was showing but the radiator is definitely weeping close to where I'd spied fluid and there is a gurgling behind the dashboard. So it looks like I need to get that done regardless. At least it's getting things sorted before they actually fail (silver lining and all that...)

Try NAR in Northampton. No idea on price. There's a respected Lancia garage near me in North Yorkshire called Walkers who do it as well.

Hi - do you, or anyone, have any pictures or links for details for one of these floor lifts. I didn't know there was such a thing and all the links I can find are for simply hoisting the top to the ceiling. Just curiosity.
Thanks

Go to advanced radiators for a Behr/Hella radiator. You’ll be surprised how cheap. So cheap you’d be mad not to put one in on a leggy car.

I've combed the Behr/Hella online catalogue recently and found the radiator for the W124 300CE but there wasn't one listed for the M119 500SL/SL500.

Thanks for the suggestion re replacement rad. Terry at Wayne Gates had said that he'd tried to get a non MB replacement and they are all no longer available as per Zonergem's post.

Apparently MB are also no longer making them but they have some old new stock so I've ordered one of those. Not a load more money than a re-core and a better solution long term I think.

However I'm still convinced my car enjoys tormenting me. After driving back ( hour journey in the rain) having had coolant and suspension fluids topped up. All well.
Two days later dashboard briefly lights up and ASR on constantly and zero forward motion.

Internet says dirty sensors / damaged wet wiring to throttle something or maybe just pure spite...

In other news I've also ordered a new door speaker cover and two map pocket hinges to tidy the interior. Unfortunately new MB over mats are now NLA. I've given them a good rug doctoring which made a massive improvement though.

One thing with the rad removal, does anyone know if it is likely that the air-con rad will also need to be decoupled and re gassing required?

Many thanks.
