[quote=m2m]Hi guys,

Picked up my GTS yesterday. The way this thing looks and drives is phenomenal. Not that I have been driving fast. Really delicate, fluent and planted; oh and the engine is a work of art. I have been getting a huge thumbs up from fellow motorists.

Congrats very very nice, is that the standard GT S or the Edition 1? only ask as thought I could see a fixed spoiler at the back?!?

Hi,
Thank you for the compliment.
It's the edition 1.
You can tell by the extra aero kit on the front spoiler that the gts does not have

I'm not a great photographer, but what I can't convey in the image is, how wide, planted, and mean its stance is.

Finally picked it up this lunch time!

Too early to tell - sounds great - lots of toys to get my head around - limited to below 4.5K for 900 miles frown

Can anyone tell me about this Mercedes ME system. Sounds a little scary to me. Big Brother......

Feel free to edit to see the pics.....

very nice. congrats. I have 70 miles on mine now and love it. Its getting a hell of a lot of attention. The car has so much road presence, more so than photographs can convey.

Hi,

I have just put down a deposit for an AMG GTS for delivery first week of January 2016.
I am currently deciding on specs and have to finalise them by the 22nd August.

One option I am not sure on are the Carbon Ceramic Brakes. I would prefer to have them but previous cars I have tried with carbon brakes have often been rather grabby and squeaky. (The GTS I test drove had the standard steel brakes.) Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Attached some configurator images of my current proposed spec.

That looks good. The standard brakes are superb, spending money on carbon would be a total waste (IMO). Have put mine up on Pistonheads Classified today as I just don't seem to be using it.

I've ordered that exact interior - from what I've seen, the half alcantara through the seats and dash looks tremendous.

On the brakes, the steel items are outstanding on the GT - probably the best steel brakes I have experienced on a car. For road use, you won't need the ceramics for any performance-related reason.

With all that said, I've ordered ceramics on mine banghead A few reasons;

I had ceramics on my SLS and from that I deciphered that AMG's ceramics perform just as well as steelies on the road. They're definitely sharper in action and I do like that, but I'm not sure I would go as far as to say they're 'grabby'. They won't stop the car any quicker but they also definitely didn't squeal.

No brake dust so you pretty much always have clean wheels - worth the cost alone!

The shallow reason.....the simply look a lot better

I will collect mine four weeks today biggrin I ordered in November rolleyes

Thanks for your advice guys.

Palmball - have you ordered the carbon exterior pack? One last option I'm struggling with - can't work out what I think looks better with the Selenite Grey - either the carbon exterior or the Silver Chrome pack....

No, I ordered the night package which is gloss black. Quite frankly, I ordered almost every other option so ran out of money laugh....the carbon is pricey stuff. My car is flat red so the gloss black will have the same effect.

I love the silver grille on the chrome package but not the silver window strips. Personal taste really and if you're not constrained by budget, the carbon will look great.

Stupid question but is the fact the cheapest one for sale currently is £125K just down to the fact people aren't willing to wait for delivery. At £97k new for a basic one do people think these will depreciate at same rate as a new 911, hope so for me

£97k is the cost of a normal GT, which isn't available until later in the year.

All cars on sale currently are GT S's, which start at £110k and I suspect will all have £10k's worth of options. Therefore the cheapest £125k is probably only just a little over the list price of that car.

Quite confident it will depreciate like any other similar value mass production new car.

Absolutely, but not for a few months yet. And when it does, what a great way to spend your money!

Do we know if Merc are/will be releasing thatGT specific Solarflare yellow to other models?
Or do I have to do a Palmy and 'Studio it over in Affalterbach?

I like the idea of my next SLK/C or SL in said hue.

Sadly - my car has gone. Lovely looking car - and has the makings of a great car.......

But I could't get on with all of the nannying - maybe it was because of the spec of my car - I only drove it for 150 miles......

The deal breaker for me was when I was coming back from the M4 into London. Traffic relatively light - I was coming off the flyover (A4) - and wanted to pull over into the left hand lane - the was no traffic whilst I did this - and the car lit up all warning lights (Lane assist) - and I could feel the pre-braking coming on - and then the power just kind of died? Very weird. Anyway - the constant talking from car to HQ also left me somewhat cold.

Anyway - decided that I liked a CL65 - which has been DMS tweaked! I love it! It behave like a Merc should - wafting around imperriosly - with a real sting in it's tail to boot! And whilst receiving a massage! I think this car sums up MB for me - and doesn't have the same level of nannying or BigBro comms to HQ!

How would I assess my short time with the GT-S? It has the makings of a great car - the chassis looks pretty impressive - I wasn't a fan of the steering - but to be honest I didn't have it long enough to form an opinion. What could be better? Put the normally aspirated 6.2 V8 back in!

One of many reasons my c63 bs is staying with me.
