SLS AMG wanted
Discussion
It looks like I've sold my Lamborghini Diablo and I'll very soon be on the hunt for a replacement toy
I had originally been looking for a Mclaren 12C but after careful consideration, its too much of a track car for me. I'm after something with more sence of occaision that I don't have to "drive like I stole it" everywhere I go.
I then had a play with an SLS and I was blown away. I need an SLS in my garage.
If anyone is looking at selling, please drop me a pm - I'll be a cash buyer.
If in any doubt, please view my history of cars on my profile. I'm not a time waster or someone planning on getting a free joyride - just after the right car before it hits the open market.
From the research I've done, there don't appear to be any known issues apart from battery drain - unless anyone can advise me otherwise?
Many thanks - I hope to be posting in this section real soon...

Issues are battery drain and superficial rusting on rear brake hubs
Mine also had parking sensor failure - covered under warranty
Extended warranty can be paid monthly and is priced off the cars mileage
Great cars - I sold mine too cheap in hindsight
I know of one that might be coming up at a dealer White one good mileage - pm me if you want

I am aware of a 2011 car with full spec, in pearl white with only 64 miles covered that the owner is thinking of selling! He will want top money though!
I have driven it and it's a stunner!
Many thanks.I have driven it and it's a stunner!
With only 64 miles I suspect it will be over budget and I'd be afraid of using it and putting any miles on!

I've noticed a fair few have popped up over the holidays on the classifieds. Which edition/spec are you looking for?
I'm fairly easy going on spec really. My ideal car would be grey/silver/blue & have carbon fibre centre console, B&O speakers, reverse camera, garage door opener and anything else is a bonus. I understand with limited numbers etc that some of my wishlist may go out the window

I'm not so sure I'd claim the B&O system was 'phenomenal'.
Personally, I thought it was the worst 'premium' car audio system I've ever heard - the basic audio system in my current A-class loaner sounds far superior to the B&O in my SLS.
In fact, it's so bad that when I owned my first SLS, I complained to directly AMG as I thought something was wrong. To be fair to them, on one of my visits to them they put me in front of the two guys who were responsible for the audio design and they took me through all the features and details of the design, however admitted that on bass-heavy tracks, it is a 'compromised' system - in both my SLS's, the rear subs sounded like they'd popped. I had both upgraded to utilise proper subs under the rear shelf rather than the mid range speakers that AMG decided to use for this purpose and this improved things considerably.
The Burmester system in the GT had better be a significant improvement!
Good luck with the search OP

Thanks Palmball.
I had a look round your old car a few weeks ago. Very nice and very well spec'd just out of my price range. MB Derby also had a red SLS in which was the one that I had gone to see and the one that got me hooked on the idea.
Hopefully something will turn up soon. I was also considering a Mclaren 12C but after driving an SLS, it just pips the 12C for me.
If anyone has or knows of an SLS coming up for sale, please give me a shout.

Of course if you have blown your speakers the sound will be pretty horrendous. As with any sound system it's good to adjust the levels depending on the music you're playing.
From my experience the system delivers a clear and crisp sound regardless of the volume, so you can make your ears bleed and still hear the lyrics clearly if you really want to. Not to mention the tweeters add a great feature to the cabin.

Can only agree.... for a £6k+ option the b&o is a joke... looks cool though and lifts the interior with the illuminated tweeters and silver speaker covers.Personally, I thought it was the worst 'premium' car audio system I've ever heard - the basic audio system in my current A-class loaner sounds far superior to the B&O in my SLS.

If the Burmester in my CTT is anything to go by, you won't be disappointed... I would unquestionably use the word 'phenomenal' when describing it !

Funny enough I was thinking about purchasing an SLS today. Whats the consensus on their value... seems like Merc made less than planned and they are on record saying that gull wings will not be returning to a Merc car for a long, long time. Future classic perhaps?
The prices have rocketed, albeit from hideous depreciation beforehand, since late summer and it appears they're continuing to do so. Whether it is a future classic will largely depend on amg/mercedes direct replacement in the years to come. What cannot be denied is the sls is amg's first car built from the ground up, the gullwing doors are unique and the last breed of mercs with a 6.2 naturally aspirated engine. The limited production means prices will remain buoyant provided no other car steels its thunder. If you like it, buy it!
