Really?!? Get the black ash, if you like it, or better still the carbon, as the shiny black plastic gets tiny scratches when the dust is wiped off with even the softest of microfibre cloths. I think it isn't fit for purpose and I've written the same to MBUK.
From what I understand it's not the centre console which is unavailable but the actual artico leather parts required for the entire dash.

I did fancy the carbon but it would appear to be still unavailable and I wasn't too keen on the black ash so am a little bit stuck! frown

Ah ok... I understand. I too wanted the aluminium door panels and with black ash you do t get that. Disappointing of merc to present unavailable options and other components that are unfit for purpose.

Great to see some feedback from owners. I placed an order for one today smile We wanted to downsize from our GL and I was really inbetween the sensible GLC 250d and the GLC 43 AMG, but a test drive with the GLC 250d just confirmed my fears that it is a bit underpowered for my liking. If they did the 350 Bluetec it would have been harder. But alas, my heart won smile

I've ordered a GLC 43 AMG, Obsidian Black, with the whatever pack plus (all the toys and upgraded soundsystem etc), 21" wheels as those were the only with black on it, and intelligent light system (had it on the GL and is a must for me). I kept the seats to the standard once I saw them in a C43 AMG as I think they are great and find full leather a bit slippery.

Build should be confirmed on Monday or Wednesday but is estimated late October. Can't wait, it feels like a real bargain compared to what else is out there.

Nice spec. The 20" wheels are bi-colour too. They are black with diamond cut faces.

It is indeed a massive bargain IMO. AND THE SOUND... oh the SOUND. Turned heads everywhere in sport+ with the pops and crackles on overrun/down change.

Oh cool, didn't realise that. The configurator wasn't working with image; not for them from their system, nor for us on the external site.

I wish it could work to see it as if the tyres are the same size on our GL (295/40r21) they are a right pain to get with only Continental offering them. I saw the 19" version of the 21" wheels on a C43 AMG in the showroom and liked the shape of them.

Can't wait for the sound, I started the C43 Coupe they had outside, it was a little tinny but it only had 3 miles on them. Normally it gets better and deeper with some miles on it.

Really good to hear some real feedback. BTW Does the audio system do Apple Airplay? They weren't sure about it themselves, not a deal breaker but nice if it does.

I have no idea about Apple AirPlay. I don't use it to wouldn't have a reason to look. I attach a pic of my wheels FYI. They are 20".

Went to local Merc garage today at Brentford. Didn't have a 43 amg but had a glc. Phoned around London and no one near me had a 43 amg. Impressed by build quality and materials of the normal glc so amg will no doubt be better. Was sold on a macan gts but the merc has better rear legroom and is almost 15k cheaper so seems like a no brainier subject to it not driving ok which I'm sure it does (coming from an m135i).

What's the deal with the 'man made leather' which comes as standard. Is the upgrade to proper leather worth it? Also looking on the web the car they showed at recent motor show has the sport seats similar to c63 but the glc43 brochure doesn't have same ones available. Any ideas?

I am Porsche guy, I have a 911 Turbo but I didn't test drive the Macan. For a few reasons, one of which was that the AMG was the product I wanted. I also came out of an M135i daily to buy the AMG. So I am quite well placed to comment.

In comparison to the 2015 LCI M135i the AMG is VERY spacious in all areas. Up front, in the rear and in the boot. On build quality I would say it is fairly equal. People rave about the merc build quality BUT there are parts that betray its commercial objectives. It's not the merc of old inside. The dash sounds hollow when you drum on it as do the door tops. Opening the doors the trim moves a bit. It's not solid like a c-class from the mid-Noughties. Also the seats in the M135i were tailor-made to fit my slim athletic frame. The merc seats are a bit more wide, more roomy. More off the peg.

The M135i sounded good in sport mode. But it wasn't a patch on the AMG in sport+. The AMG is aural sex!

I have the std sports seats as you will see in the earlier pics and I have the full leather. I love the full leather and think it's well worth the upgrade price.

As for handling. The M135i is a lively hot hatch. Driven hard it keeps you awake. It's not planted it's lively. I loved it. The AMG is comfy, even in sport+ Not a hot hatch. It doesn't change direction quickly or flatly. But it does corner flatly on gradual and sweeping bends. It does grip the road well. It's a very different beast.

It's been said before but I think this AMG is a bargain. A steal. Really. The more I drive it the more I love it.

Thanks for the detailed response. I'm getting excited about ordering one! local dealership gets one in this Friday so might take it for a spin and then pull the trigger however I want the carbon interior and sounds like there an issue. re the exhaust sound, when you flick it in to sport mode does it open valves on the exhaust or is it synthetic like the m135i?

Nice wheels! Yes a lot more black on them then the online image suggests. Ah well, I'll stick to the 21" wheels and just cry a little every time I need tyres. smile

The man made artico 'leather' is actually really good. I kept it in our GL class as it came as standard and looked nice. It's proven to be very tough as well with our children, horse and boat gear, and several fully laden 7 seat trips with spilt food and all sorts.

I was very much in two minds regarding the GLC, but when I was able to see the combination of the Artico and Microfibre on the C 43 coupe they had I was sold. Much less slippery and looks smart and fitting to the car I think. But then again I stuck to cloth on my Golf R as well, which not just myself but also my family prefers as it grips them more on a spirited drive.

But we are all different, and to be honest the leather upgrade is priced incredibly reasonable. Purely comes down to your own preference I would say and not a value for money thing.

I quite agree with you on the value of the leather and the personal choice thing. I'll never see the money back come sale time but i will have had my value during ownership. I've had MBs before with article and it was very very good and totally believable as leather. Ironically it's the alcantara portion that puts me off... Having only ever had it on a sofa, where it bobbled over time, I've always steered clear of it in cars.

Funny story, well I think it's funny. When I bought my first Porsche, a Boxster, some 14 years ago they came, as standard, with part leather - part alcantara unless you upgraded. It felt like the poverty spec option. Today the most collectible Porsches in the GT* range all come with alcantara and people love it as a sign of the highly desirable GT* cars.

As the seats in the GLC are generally wider than the usual sports seats in sportier cars I reckon the alcantara will be an excellent choice. Perhaps one day I'll overcome my bobble fear :-)

I think you will be pleased with the ride on 20" wheels. It's very smooth. If I gave a criticism of the ride it would relate to the body roll as the car passes over uneven roads. No concrete tyres, more rock and roll BUT I am comparing it to a super car and not other SUVs so it may well be the best SUV at limiting roll for all I know.

Went out tonight in the rain. It was fabulously composed in sport mode and comfy too. I really like it.

Oh and it gets lots of looks... Which is always nice.
Sorry I keep on re-reading as it is rare and great to see a real owners feedback smile

I'm wondering whether what you are experiencing is the air suspension. Mercedes has been changing the names again, on our current full size GL we have the Airmatic suspension with active body control which makes it handle corners like no car of that size/weight should be able to do (in theory). But sometimes it feels a little 'odd' when it adjusts to keep it stable and flat. If learned to ignore it and just plant the throttle down smile

I'm still a little unsure which version of the suspension is actually on the GLC43. They call it AIR BODY CONTROL which I guess is the new name for Airmatic but with an AMG tune?

What is the Burmester sound system like? Most of the ones in the showroom really sounded like they required some running in. I found it a little tight and light on bass. But to be fair I think our current Harmon Kardon system was like that as well, and once my wife and children went through their clubbing playlists it loosened up.

It is funny how these things come around isn't it. I recall from the VW Golf R drivers the standard alcantara being referred to as poverty spec as well. Car specs are so individual in the things we like, and I like it that we have choice. We all have our reasons for choosing what we choose. Don't laugh, in a moment of green madness I bough a Prius and the leather option looked like that fake 70's stuff whilst it was real, I said no thank you. But we hated that car and traded it in for our anti Prius our current full size GL smile

I still can't get over how well kitted out the GLC43 actually is.

Oh does it require RON98+? Like Shell Nitro+ or is it a normal RON95 engine?

Oh my gosh the GLC63 is real

http://mbworld.org/articles/spied-glc-63-amg-produ...

Whilst I would love it, I can't help but think that the GLC43 is the more sensible option to run everyday. Pretty cool though.

Chaps,
Something to be aware of. MB have clearly been fiddling with the configurator - I think with a view to adding more options.
The one thing that concerned me was that "remote online" has appeared as a £150 option. I had previously assumed it came as part of the Premium Plus pack. Will check with dealer on Monday but something I definitely want.

One the dealer version of the system it was definitely a separate option. It has a dependency on Command Online, but Command as standard in the Premium Plus pack does not provide Remote Online functionality.

It is certainly separate now but I don't think it was when I ordered before they made changes to the configurator.
If you specify the Premium Plus pack on a C43, it comes up as being included, which given the commonality of the packages is a bit odd.
I've e-mailed the dealer so will see what comes back.
