Told mine is already built and has track pack / cage option so it's available for sure....
No Uk cars built yet.. It is, like a couple of others, built, apart from a bit of material for the inside! Apparently the 1-2 that have been delivered to the UK are lower spec, so they told me. A bit peed off!! On Tuesday it was definately the 1st>
Great that at least one car is delivered to a UK customer but it's a little bit of a sad indictment to see it driving around Mayfair/Kensington and parking outside the Dorchester and Harrods.
Mine will get a setup and be on track first moment I have otherwise what's the point... actually we will probably run it and then tweak the setup there as be interested to see how it is out the box.

Hi CitySlicker, no I did not, but there is alcantara in all cabins I believe. Is that what you have been told is the holdup?
I don't have any verified information what is causing the delays. Shame to hear your has fallen victim. Mine's due on July 3rd, fingers crossed.Edited by stoatage17 on Saturday 20th May 11:10

I saw the video of him redlining while driving from the dealership. I presume these do have some kind of run in period...Mine will get a setup and be on track first moment I have otherwise what's the point... actually we will probably run it and then tweak the setup there as be interested to see how it is out the box.

With that all in mind the AMG GT R takes fourth spot in our top five ahead of the Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 but lagging behind the McLaren 570S Track Pack, Ferrari 488 GTB and the formidable Porsche 911 GT3

To be 4th behind that lot is no disgrace at all. The 570S is just unreal, the 488 is £70K more with a similar high level of options, and the GT3 is superb, but wont have the performance or the presence of the GTR .https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/mercedes-amg/...

Hello guys,
First of all my excuses for my "english", because I live in Belgium.
I love cars and have at this moment a 997 turbo with 480hp and is a manual shifter.
I m looking to change this car and was always looking in the direction of an 991 turbo s.
Last week I entered my Mercedes dealer( i have a very good contact with them) and made a configuration for an amg gtr.
because I'm a "special client" for them, they have asked Mercedes benz Belgium and received a positiv answer to give me a reduction of 10 percent.
If i order the car , I can get it in february 2018.
Wthat do you guys think?
is the amg gt r a really good car?
I will use this car only as a weekend car and I don't do track days.
is the amg faster than a turbo s.
thanks

We will excuse your English, better than my French/Dutch, but you walk into a dealership and get a car in 9 months time and a 10% discount?! I should Co-CoFirst of all my excuses for my "english", because I live in Belgium.

i do really know the dealer very good.
But in my "head" i was a really Porsche guy and never thought of buying à Mercedes sports car.
But when i read some reviews of the gtr ( every single one positive) i was seduced to make à configuration, and when they said that they could give me a 10% reduction i got more seduced...
Thanks

Sorry Semih, I do not buy the discount. An AMG dealer who did might not be an AMG dealer for long! Getting the car, is probably a cancelled order, so can buy that >But in my "head" i was a really Porsche guy and never thought of buying à Mercedes sports car.

I suppose no surprise as these are in big demand........
Cant wait to be in mine but looks like it's delayed till mid July so will have to wait for the Sept plate...... nnnnoooooooo!

Evening chaps.
I recently read this PH message board from start to finish and, having done so, felt compelled to drive down to my local Mercedes dealership (Brooklands) on Friday and put down an order on a new GTR.
Now, I know it's unlikely I will actually secure a car until late 2018, if at all, but in my experience half the fun is speccing your new set of uber wheels and waiting for it to arrive, like a child at Christmas (it can also be excruciating)!
Having owned a number of GT Porsches in my time (GT2, GT3 RS etc.) and an Audi R8 V10 (manual), I thought it was high time to buy from Great Britain Plc. What a mistake! The Vantage V12S I had was lovely and the customer service I received was of a high standard, but the car just couldn't cope with sustained track use. I then bought a McLaren 12C and whilst its performance is mind-blowing and its doors theatrical, its engine note is woeful, its infotainment shocking and its reliability highly questionable - it managed to blow a coolant hose at the Nurburgring in early April and it has since been with McLaren Ascot waiting for parts to arrive...
So, it's time to return to wonderful German engineering, top build quality and reliability, and a mega exhaust note
Can anyone tell me if the GTR "track pack" includes a cage and harnesses, or not? The online configurator only mentions the bucket seats.
