I'd say that's quite normal for a dealer to do a deal on a cancelled order or pre registered car. You've done well and what a car! Lead time still long.

I loved my GTR. Kept it just shy of a year as just sold it. Did 4000 miles and it gave me more smiles per mile than my previous 488 spider.

Waiting now for the GTR club sport to be officially announced asupposedly sometime this month and my order is in.
Ah, the trackday special, ideal for sloane street;)

Car launch is delayed because of emmisions regs.

Don't mention delays because of emission regs !

My GTR was originally supposed to be May delivery, then June, July, August, September and now who knows !

Mine came off the production line two months ago and went to the independent emissions test centre in Germany for testing and two months on it is still there.

They say patience is a virtue.....!

Ha Ha I will no doubt track the Coub Sport tbh. I enjoyed the GTR on many countryside jaunts with other supercars.

My dealer knows nothing about a delay to the C.S so did you hear it from AMG UK? How annoying! I trust you have one ordered too?

That is terrible! Sorry to hear that! Mine was delayed last year by 2 months so know what it's like. Hope you get it soon.

I was also told that cars with (a lot of) CF specced were also delayed because there was some problem with the supply of the various cf packs...no idea if that's true.

If you do venture out on track this time, do let me know. I've only ever seen one other GTR on track and the owner just pootled round, its a terrible shame that no one tracks them as they're far quicker than most realise.

Info from UK head office as always. Have been promised that all the issues the GTR has will be resolved but we'll see!

Was true last year, my car was delayed by 2 months because I ordered the CF rear wing. Car sat built as sindlefingin with no rear wing the whole time.

Will do. Another friend who is a bit of a track king has one on order too. Always trying to persuade me to go on the track with him.......

Hopefully we will hear some exciting news from Mercedes soon smile

I haven't posted on this thread before but have read with interest the sagas of delayed delivery of GT Rs as I have one on order. My experience to date has been similar to everyone else, with a series of imminent delivery dates given by the dealer, who says he gets his information from MB UK. As each forecast delivery date gets close, a further date is then given. Before today, the latest date for delivery of my car was to have been next week, but I received a phone call this afternoon from the Sales Manager who said that delivery is now scheduled for early November.

One of the problems for us customers of MB is that we (and the dealer apparently) are never told the specific reason for the delay, although recently it was mentioned that it was something to do with extra emission testing being required. I find it extraordinary that a prestigious organisation like Mercedes Benz can treat its customers this way. Does anyone have a contact at Mercedes Benz UK who would be able to shed some light on what has been going on to cause all these delays? I could understand it if, say, MB said that all deliveries will be delayed by 6 months due to production problems, but giving a whole series of delivery dates, each of which is not met and a new delivery date given seems a bit strange to me.

I have never bought a Mercedes Benz before. Is this situation with the GT R the norm with all their cars?

I had been looking for a new car and found a new GTR for sale in Bromley and it was the exsact spec I would have picked (it was a cancelled order) so I think it was meant to be, it’s an amazing car and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit different , seats are the bucket ones and not the easiest to get in and out of but very comfortable once your in, It drives very well, I think having the yellow stitching really makes the interior look good, can also get 2 sets of golf clubs in the boot so done deal for me, very happy

MY GT3 2018 manual first day impressions

This arrived today and I am a little unsure I have mixed feelings .

The car looks amazing, driving position and ergonomics are fantastic, the LWB seats are comfortable, I will get the adjusters for more rake .
100% need bolster protectors.
Started it up and I thought it lacked a bit of noise. I can see why people opt for a shark worx

Driving off I thought it's very compliant over bumps no different to my 997 Pdk turbo. Quite comfortable and not near as stiff as I thought . Considering this was to be a weekend only ca I was a bit disappointed as it could easily be a daily .
I also thought the gearing is too tall so bottom end torque is not that great, off the line it's not feeling at all a ballsy torque based engine. So around town it's an easy drive . I was hoping for a bit of a difficult car to drive with a heap of power , as in be careful with the power. Though really no need .

I would say the gears are to tall . when you get up in the rev range 1500 to 4000 equals nowhere . 5000-7000 is good torque from 7000 revs to 9000 the thing screams though lacks torque just screams , the down side is you are going too fast for the street. I found some back roads and gave it some and I found that the gears are a too tall , so 1st gear 100 kms second gear probably doing 160 kms per hour, so it's hard to use the motor wilth full range on the street .

Build quality is excellent and the car looks good.

My history with cars are mainly V8's or TT pDK so this one is not quite what I was expecting. It is a manual and the box is nice clutch is light and steering is good, direct . Car is planted .
Off tigh corners it will step out a bit .

Now I am of the belief warm the car up and then drive it so It been belted from 25kms on the clock . It free's up the engine. Car was too boring under 4000 revs.

Conclusion is , I need to spend more time in the car to make it work for me. So far I am a little disappointed however I can see why others love it. The cars looks fantastic and I love my options painted interior with full leather and LWB'a look fantasic

The final Conclusion Was I was not in love with it so I sold it after a week and ordered an AMG GTR

The car finally arrived today 10 month wait

I don’t know where to start , I’m in love !!
First impression is the stance, it looks wide and fat from front and rear .
The interior is actually a lovely finish with Alcantara gloss black centre consul with matte carbon , black leather with yellow stitch
The seat position for me is close to perfect I’m 6ft 4 and ordered bucket seats with yellow stitch
Start the car and the rumble is amazing, just fantastic.
The response to the pedal is instant with full torque at 1900 revs .
The most amazing thing for me was the turn in, for me it is more responsive than the GT3 . I think due to 4 wheel steer, car is quick to react and feels very nimble .
the build quality for me is Porsche good, I am really surprised . It’s a tank !!
The look of the matte silver and black wheels is also very pleasing.
When you push the go pedal while doing 20kms it’s instant and bloody fast. Turbo S fast.
It’s the car made for me . I love it and for value it speaks volumes . The back fire exhaust is addictive.
Then turn the car to comfort and it all slows down and is a really nice traffic cruiser .
This is the best car I have ever driven let alone owned . And this is all only on the way home from work in traffic... 1st day.

I agree having had two GTR’s and several 911’s from a 911CS ‘1989’ to a 991 ‘2018’ the GTR is one hell of a car on road or track. I would say that it is quite possibly the easiest car to drive fast that I have ever owned particularly on the track! I am tempted to another GTR and am watching prices. I would highly recommend anyone who has one on order from Mercedes and are being arsed about to look at dealer stock before the end of the year. I was offered a 500 mile ‘18’ plate GTR retailing at 162k the other day for 137k! I didn’t buy it but a friend did who has a new one on order with MB and saved himself 25k! and even better he’s no longer waiting and being subjected to MB’s silly games, He has the car in his garage.
Good luck!

Amg GTR Pro announced, being unveiled at the LA auto show later this month https://twitter.com/MercedesBenz/status/1064885046...

Looks like the same car in this video trying to break some sort of Nurburgring record too, appears in the second half https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buOCOSeDvKI&t=...

Will be interesting to see what they've done to the standard GTR and if there are any power upgrades, seems like quite a few aerodynamic changes from the photos in the video...

This exactly explains why the AMG GT’s fall so much in value second hand, MB release another model with tiny tweaks and a new badge, RS, Pro or whatever at an even higher price, great marketing mind you with the attitude of ‘f... all owners of existing models’
Yes with this latest press release used GTR’s will be changing hands for £115 to £120k very soon, sad but true!

Why should the release of the limited addition AMG GT R Pro depress prices for used standard GT Rs. When Porsche release limited edition cars like the GT3 or GT3 RS it doesn't affect prices of lesser Porsches like the 911 Carrera S. I received my GT R about 2 weeks ago. My dealer said that it was one of only 4 to come to the UK during 2018. I think it is a great car and intend to keep it for at least 3 years. I expect it to depreciate during that time.

The GT R Pro is likely to be considerably more expensive than the standard GT R according to the motoring press. If true, this makes it a different car which is even less likely to have an effect on standard GT R values. It is a sad fact that a lot of GT R Pros will be bought by speculators IMO and therefore never see a track as their mileage will be limited to "Delivery Mileage", whatever that is. My GT R had 8 miles on the clock when I collected it.

Unfortunately you can’t compare Porsche and Mercedes, the 991.2 S, 4S, GTS, GT3, GT3RS and GT2 RS etc are all current models being sold at the same time although some of them you can’t get without paying a premium unless you have a history of more or less continous Porsche ownership. When they release a limited model ie the 911R, then make a set number which in this case was 991 units and that’s it. Their limited models are completely different ie the GT3 engine in a lightweight basic 991 with a manual box, the car probably costing less to build than standard models. The result was that they cost 120k ish but changed hands when flipped for 500k! Mercedes are desperately trying to copy Porsche but failing dismally. The GT, the GTS, GTC and GTR are mainstream production models not specials so therefore the first few GTR’s sold at a modest premium but that was very short lived. The biggest example of their failure was the GTC ED50 Coupe, 350 built Worldwide, cost £140k, now changing hands with no miles for 110 to 115k six months old. A standard GTC Coupe with different Finnish to wheels, quilted Nappa leather, a badge and a choice of two Magno colours!
This all aside I’ve had two GTR’s and several 911’s and I still maintain that the GTR is an easy to drive blistering road or track car. I’m going to buy another one to keep.
