2008 CLK 280 Advice

Hi guys,

Long time lurker but finally posting!

Just wanted to get the PH collective advice on a 2008 CLK280 Sport that I am looking to buy.

The car is very low miles and in excellent condition, engine falls outside of the balance shaft issue and overall drives nicely and smoothly.

Before I commit I wanted to check if there are any obvious problems with the car? Keen to buy as it's a NA petrol engine, has all the kit and hopefully will last a good 5 years.

I've got the same engine/gearbox (and lots of other stuff)in my wife's SLK. Lovely drive and I would buy another without hesitation.

Thanks Loggo, so far it all sounds good. It drove very nice. The only thing putting me off is the £520 VED!!

So did you buy the car OP? Don't worry about the tax if it's the right car then the extra £200 will be worth it.

I bottled it in the end! It was a lovely car, drove beautifully and the smooth petrol engine made a nice change from a grumbly diesel! Thing is I'm going to keep this car for around 3/4 years and the £2k in tax just is too much for me.
