2014 E Class Sat Nav subscription

My folks E Class Cab has just turned 3 years old and they're saying the Nav live traffic has stopped working.

I'm not familiar with merc and google isn't showing much so I thought I would try here.

I assume this was a subscription for 3 years and has just expired, what I have read is that this is provided by Tom Tom ?

Is there a way to get traffic, the standard TMC maybe ? without subscribing again to Tom Tom ?

When my SLK traffic subscription ran out after three years recently, I just renewed it in the 'Mercedes Me' portal. It cost £89 for three years so not the end of the world...

I registered my 2014 SLK on Mercedes Me and after I added Live Traffic it showed subscription until end of 2018. I didn't pay anything. I was planning to buy extension as mentioned above. Had some issues with adding the car online. It was showing as there but Mercedes Me consultant told me it's not and added it by VIN number again.
