C350 petrol hybrid
Discussion
We have one - love it but won't see anywhere near 100 mpg - though we don't charge as much as we should..

As with all hybrids its always about how you use it.
If you predominantly always run on Battery, which is approx. 13 miles between charges then basically you will get astronomically mpg, as your not using any.....
In real life its a mix, journeys between home & work are on battery and account for around 3000 miles over the last 6 moths, and I charge at both ends. but also do longer journeys.
currently after 9600 miles, i'm currently averaging 64.2mpg ,
On long journeys you are looking at somewhere between 40-45mpg at best

Thanks for the replies. The long thread certainly makes interesting reading. This car will be obtained through work and from the tax calc at 7% BIK it looks like about £92 a month on the basic car, however this rises a lot over the next two years.
At the moment my current car drinks fuel stuck in traffic and school runs but gets 42mpg on the motorway. I figure I can do the town and school runs on electric and then look at the other modes for when I hit the motorway. Free charging at work too.
Will probably make the move and get a Brilliant Blue Estate but with just the default equipment to keep the tax down. Although the extra 360 camera could be useful but I cant help but think the novelty would wear off after awhile. Ive never had a car with reversing sensors so the kit on this car will keep me busy for awhile. I saw on the internet there is a 2018 update coming with what appears to be a full LCD dash (rather than just the tablet thing). Ill investigate if waiting until I put the order in will get me one of those.
Can I simply plug the charger into a normal 3 PIN plug that I have in my garage or do I need something a bit stronger?

Yes. Just plugs in. It has two modes. If you are charging overnight leave it on the lower mode (8 amp). The higher mode can get plugs a bit hot. This is why they don't recommend using an extension lead for it.I think the base rates for these have risen from 7% to 9% this tax year now and they are increasing but will still be far cheaper than the equivalent diesel.
I’m switching out of a W205 C250d into a PHEV and saving myself around £1800 a year in BiK payments. By the end of the 3rd year in the PHEV I think I’ll be paying c.16% whereas if I stayed in the diesel I’d be somewhere around 32%. I’m currently getting an average of 51.3mpg from the 69k miles I’ve done and upwards of 59 on a long run. I can swallow a hit in the MPG figures as the saving in BiK will buy me a fair few litres of petrol each month.
Have fun in the Merc!
