I must go against the grain of all these glowing reviews.
The C63 is an average car. The build quality is average. The dashboard squeaks, the brakes squeak...the ride is extremely harsh and the seats are awful.
Real world town mpg is less than 10.
The quality of the materials used in the cabin are sub par. The leather used for example is very poor.
Your opinion is a good warning that buying a second hand car without even driving it is a risky business. From your other posts, it sounds like you have unfortunately bought a lemon which is a real shame. My personal experience is that the W204 C63 was a very well put together car. (I do agree with your comment about the poor quality leather, that's definitely true!)

The W205 C63 I have at the moment suffers with a creaky interior and squeaky brakes. I also bought it without driving it (it was brand new however) so perhaps the moral of this story is "Don't buy any car without driving it!"

Hi

I would say go for it, i had a 2013 PPP coupe, ran it for about 2 years, had 13000 when i got her, sold her with about 29000, didn't lose too much but the smiles per mile factor was great.

No issues with the car at all and i got a 2 yr service pack from MB, cost me about £1000 and covered a minor and major, saved me quite a bit.

I only let her go because i wanted a convertible and the misses wouldn't let me stretch to the new shape so went M4 convertible.

I do miss that thunderous V8 noise.

Well, by way of an update...... My late-'14 507 coupe landed just over a week ago and the smile hasn't left my face!

The Aston'esque exhaust note is massively addictive and while it comes at the expense of large quantities of Super Unleaded, I don't care! The engine is a thing of wonder and I'm glad I took the opportunity to own one of these cars before they disapear.

Yesterday, Merc fixed a dashboard rattle under warranty and the interior is now squeak free. They also sorted the DAB reception with a new amplifier & software update. These were the only niggles I had with the car and now they're sorted, I can say it's just about perfect. I'm looking forwards to adding a few more miles to it.

It's a "last of the last" car, it'll never be repeated in big capacity N/A spec, so I'm going to enjoy it for as long as I can! Thanks for all the positive comments folks, you helped make my mind up on the purchase smile

Any update on the 507?

I had a 2013 coupe for just over a year loved it. (about 12 months ago)

Sold it for a GT4, that was too much for me so ended up getting an RS6 (nope) 991 GTS (lovely but very expensive) and finally a range rover sport.

I'm thinking of getting a 507 when the GTS sells... Excellent value and should hold their value well. Tested M3/M4 comp pack etc, not for me. Nor the new C63... Can't beat the C63 for value imo, and there are a couple of owners who have moved on and come back to C63s...

These are really special and fun cars, and just the right side of practical / comfy too...

Does the 507 ride harder than a non PP c63?

I wasn't planning an update, but sure, why not! Simply said, so far, so good. It's a fantastic car, full of character and an absolute joy to drive, whether mooching to work, or enjoying the performance on fun tarmac.

The performance is simply mega. It's just over 100bhp more than my Focus RS had, with more weight, yet it feels much faster & more brutal. I love the way it looks, I can't park up without looking over my shoulder as I walk away, which says a lot. It's comfortable when driving to work, doesn't get upset in traffic and just listening to the V8 at any engine speed, is very, very pleasing.

I've had the opportunity to have some fun with it, with some friends and it managed to surprise me with it's chassis balance & poise. I thought it would just be a dragster, but it's actually got a fantastic chassis underneath it. Sure, you're got to be careful in the first three gears, but once it's hooked up, it's very exploitable & enjoyable.

I love the car. As a "last of the last" big capacity NA engine, it's a thing of wonder. There won't be another one like it and that in itself is enough, for me to keep hold of it for as long as possible.

I can't say if it's any stiffer on it's suspension than a std C63 or PP model, but I can say it's pretty stiff. Not uncomfortably so, but most people would definitely say it's pretty hard riding.

If the snow stays away, I'll be at PH SS this weekend on the 10:10 session with the 507. Listen out for it! Hope this helps smile

Superb update and glad you are still enjoying the car!

I read there is an "AMG sports suspension" option that adds 20% stiffness, not sure if yours has this or not, it's an option i'd look for one without, as the standard one was a very nicely judged ride vs audi and bmw counterparts!

Oh yes, I absolutely love it! I will try to post a pic or two when I get home.... as for the suspension, I'm not sure on the specifics. According to a few folks on the MB Club UK forum, there was an AMG Suspension option, but it's stated that this was only spec'd on c.4% of the UK cars. Whether that's true or not, I don't know.

I've done a VIN decode on my car and it's not listed, but strangely, it does list the MB part number for the front & rear springs: Front spring: A 204 321 42 04, Rear spring: A 204 324 06 04. Whether the 507 spec "package" automatically comes with different suspension, I'm not sure. It is a pretty hard ride, so I don't believe they use std C63 springs / shocks, but may be wrong.

Correct -

Our test car – a coupe – is fitted with the standard AMG Sports Suspension, which does a fine job of keeping the body composed but not without compromise to the ride quality. The damping is abrupt in normal driving conditions, mitigated a little by a pair of excellent seats, and the resistance to roll is impressive – this isn’t a your normal wafty-riding Merc. AMG ‘Performance’ suspension is an option, but I’d be wary of this: it’s 20 per cent stiffer.

It was the same as fitted to the early PP C63 cars.

I had a 2013 coupe a couple of years ago, kept it just over a year, completely loved it and still miss it -

My current fun car is a GT4 but i hate it, far too focused as a road car.

I think i'll be in the market for a 507 coupe soon if anyone is selling?

I've considered many options but value for money/fun factor i think it's got to be the 507.

This is after also having an RS6 / 991.2 GTS and 2 GT4s in the meantime so says alot for the C63...

I'm not suprised, i've heard of a couple of owners on here coming from far more exotic stuff back to a C63.

Its not complex! The new 4.0l Bi-Turbo might be but the 6.2 in the 204 family of C63s is about as neanderthal as you can get. That's what makes it so awesome!

Go and get one and only keep it for 1 or 2 years if you are really worried.
