CLK Front Screen Replacement Problems

I have just purchased a low mileage one owner CLK 350 09 plate convertible but would you believe it after two days I had a thumping great star burst which requires the glass to be replaced.Now when Autoglass came to fix it they said that there had been a modification and the electrical connector housed in the passenger side door pillar has been changed on the screen and they could do the replacement but were not able to change the old for new connector.I spoke to my local Merc dealer who said they couldn't find any modifications on their screens so maybe the screen fitted by Autoglass is an OEM. Has anyone had experience of this or has any idea where I could get this checked before the irrevocable stop of removing the existing screen. thanks

Go back to your Insurer and tell them of the issue Autoglass are advising you of.
look to use another Glass supplier if possible.
Autoglass do try and use Pattern Screens rather than genuine if thats what they have in stock.
they can and do also order direct from Manufactuerer when needed.
Ask Glassman on here he will Know the definitive answer I would wager.
