Our locks bounce / "machine gun" when we lock the doors.

I know that the fix is well documented on the internet - involving replacing the spring in the lock mechanism and the cocktail stick / nail "trick".
I've tried the trick and it only worked temporarily. The indy who looks after my wife's B class did a lot of teeth sucking when I talked about the spring. I think he's not that keen on replacing the whole mechanism but certainly isn't keen on the spring.

I wondered if there was anyone who had experience of having one fixed? .

Thanks

I originally went for the ebay springs when both rear door locks started bouncing.
Didn't work so was £400 lighter via local merc dealer parts department.

Thank for the reply. Was that £400 for supplying and fitting or just the parts?

Thanks

I had this on my e class last year. I bought the correct module from ebay and gave it to the garage to fit. Its a bit of pita as it means drilling rivets I believe but not that arduous in the grand scheme of things. A couple of hours labour and the part which was about £30.

Same with my estate earlier this year, spring kit was around a tenner on Ebay and my Independent in Harrow charged a couple of hours labour, if you're handy there's a diy tutorial on Youtube.

Hmmmmm, I had already tried the spraying in of lubricant, as per the video, and it didn't really work. however, having watched the video I applied loads and it has worked. So we'll see if it stays like that. Thanks
