Hi Guys,

Has anyone had experience of fitting a "Race Chip" piggy back tuning box to a Mercedes E350 CDI 231 hp. Just like to know if the claims are realistic and whether any problems were encountered?

Cheers Chas

I fitted one to my 320D, good improvement, also like the throttle sensitivity option, that works OK too. I went for it rather than a remap as you can control it all via an app or a dial (throttle) in the car. Had maps before and dealers kept blowing them away at every service which is a bit of a pain.

The Claims are: for the Basic Race Chip Box +45 hp +87 Nm torque and 15 % improvement in fuel consumption, all for £139. Yes sounds too good to be true.

One that was tested on a dyno on U tube for a 2.0 Golf was quoted as giving +28 hp but actually achieved +11 hp.

So you can understand why I am sceptical . The attraction of a piggy back box is that it is a plug and play , can be fitted or removed in about 10 mins and does not change the existing ECU map. So removal before a main dealer service is simple. Also the original ECU maintains all the safety parameters.

Thanks for your feed back. So you ran it for some time with no issues?

A custom map will see 45 and more & i'd rather do that than have a generic map as the custom one will be suited to your car, give Celtic Tuning a call.
