Thanks chaps for all the thoughts/insight - the normal wait is tough enough, having delays makes it practically unbearable!

Awful, isn’t it. Time seems to go slowly when you’re waiting for a new car.

Parker from Vehicle Virgins just uploaded a video to YouTube, where he hooked up his VBOX to his new E63S. Three 0-60 runs... 2.7, 2.7, 2.8.

Probably on a downhill run, but either way, quite fast, and makes me feel even more impatient.

As with Car and Driver's test of the new M5 (0-60 in 2.8s: https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2018-bmw-m5-t... it would be great if true, but I doubt it.

Sorry to hear that.

Mine was assigned a VIN today, but both delivery dates were moved back 2 days.

Congrats. At least it’s positive to hear that some of these bloody things are finally being built. I look forward to receiving mine in October 2027.

Thanks for the updates guys, i wonder how many cars are backlogged. I fear it will be a bun fight.

Its just patently ridiculous how bad Merc are at communicating the situation, a lot of the annoyance is the not knowing whats happening. Delays (though annoying) can I guess be expected to a degree, its the radio silence that irks

They don’t even seem to keep the dealers in the loop. It’s plain arrogance, nothing else.

I wonder what options are delaying some more than others? Feel free to share your spec...

I’m 99% certain it’s the HUD (hence why I cancelled it).

Aware that delays were likely, I opted to go with an Inchcape dealership believing that their buying power would push my order along.

My spec:

Mercedes-AMG E63S 4MATIC+ Saloon
Selenite Grey metallic
20-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels

Premium Package
Driving Assistance Plus Package
AMG Night package
Remote Parking package
Metal-weave trim
AMG performance exhaust system, selectable
Closing aid for doors
Wireless charging and connection via Bluetooth

Nice spec. I went with Lister, as they offered me 11.6% off list through Carwow. It means a trip to the frozen wastelands of the north to collect it, but no dealer around here could get even remotely near their price. At least I’ll get a good lump of the running in done on the way home.

Saloon
Selenite grey metallic
Premium package
Night package
Remote parking package
20” black forged wheels
Black nappa
Black open pore ash trim
Black open pore ash centre console
Heated screen
Heated rear seats
Wireless phone charging
HUD
Performance exhaust

Hey cheeky bu66ers you went for the same colour as me!!
Mine's another Carwow discounted car in same ballpark, but from Cardiff so it's a nice 4.5 hour schlep over the Brecon Beacons on the way home :-)

E63S Premium
Designo Selenite Grey Metallic
Exclusive Nappa leather, black/grey
Metal weave trim
AMG Drivers Package
Air Balance Package
AMG Night Package
HUD
Heated rear seats
Closing aid for doors
Wireless charging
Driving assistance plus package
360 Degree camera
20in AMG Cross spoke Forged high gloss black alloys
AMG performance exhaust

Though I think the centre console is in some kind of black(?) as they changed the trim specs between July and November.
I trust you both ticked the 'free option' Driver's package which removes the top speed limiter? Be a shame not to.
I'm scheduled to get 'that' call from my dealer on Friday. Fingers/legs crossed!

If all goes well maybe we can have a PH E63S day out at the AMG Performance day we all get as owners?

Can I also ask if anyone else is looking at getting paint protection film? Being matte it's a bu66er to look after (apparently).
I've been quoted 3.5k plus VAT for a full car wrap in Xpel Ultimate; or complete front end plus w'screen surrounds, sills and rear arches for around 1.8k plus the dreaded.
Just interested if anyone else has been looking.
I had the Xpel on my S63 coupe and it was v good.
Personally I think full wrap is a waste as you might as well buy a standard colour car, then wrap it matte grey!

It’s the best colour! For the first couple of weeks I had matte on order, then changed it to Hyacinth Red, then saw the light.

From December 1 a few options changed... the AMG Drivers pack disappeared (the “S” automatically comes with the increased limiter and both the standard and the “s” now get a complimentary trip to Brooklands), and the default centre console became open pore black ash. The piano black is still available, but you have to manually select it as a no-cost option. I believe they did this as quite a few people complained that the piano follows black picked up fingerprints and scratched quite easily. My OCD wouldn’t allow me to get a different centre console and trim, so elected for the black ash all around. The only other option was carbon fibre, and I didnt particularly like the look of it, and I also think nearly £3k for interior trim is madness.

Ah yeah now I remember talking to the dealer about the trim. I've had several cars with piano black interior and yes they can get easily scratched - and it shows. Shame as it looks really good too. What about the wrapping? Anyone else going to bother?
