Production delay for new E Class
Discussion
Probably because if MB added any other variables in to the mix we’d likely be waiting 2 years for the cars to arrive. They offer half the options of Audi or BMW, yet take twice as long as it is!
I think you need to go the whole hog with the wrapping. If you’re going to do it you need to do all of it, including the front grille, then it will look extra awesome.

How’s the ground clearance (particularly the front)? Have to admit, it’s not something I have thought about or checked.
Its very good, a couple of occasions now I thought I was going to ground out but happily the car sailed over the bump. The main issue I have had is the width of the car, compared to my C63S it is that little bit wider and driving through width restrictions (with those terrible high kerbs) is tricky and I hate to say only a matter of time until those beautiful 20" alloys succumb to kerb rash
Useful info, thanks.
I can’t believe how wide it is. Lucky I moved house, as our old road had those stupid width restriction things at both ends, and I don’t think it would have fit. I’ve hated those things ever since I tried to take a Range Rover over Albert Bridge. Expensive mistake...

“We have spoken with Vehicle Logistics and your car is currently in Zeebrugge undergoing further Quality Controls before shipment to the UK. We have asked that it is given priority but at present it appears it may be there for a bit longer due to the volume of Quality Controls they are undertaking. I want to assure you we are doing everything we can to get it released and shipped ASAP and will continue to do so.
Please accept my apologies for another delay. I appreciate the disappointment of this and I am happy to review the matter once we have confirmation your car is being released for shipment.”
ARRRRRRRRGH! I am this <-> close to cancelling. It’s supposed to be arriving at the dealership tomorrow for PDI, and they’re only telling me this now. fking amateurs.

Yep. Apparently that’s where the additional checks are undertaken. I queried this by asking “why do Mercedes choose to do the checks in a giant car park? Isn’t that what factories are for?” And was told that it’s a bit more than a giant car park.
It’s really frustrating, especially as some of the cars mentioned on here seemed to sail through the whole factory/shipping/delivery process without any further delays.
They also can’t give me any idea about where my car might be in the QC queue, or when it might end up on a boat, or when it might arrive at the PDI centre, or when it might arrive at the dealership, or when I might be able to collect it.
I’m going to give them 48 hours to provide some firm info, before I start taking the cancellation option seriously. One thing is for sure, after this experience I will most certainly be one car and out with Mercedes Benz. The dealerships and CS are very helpful, but absolutely everything else is bloody useless.

They build the car, transport it cross-border to a port 400 miles away, and then perform quality checks?Ehh??

I’m getting worried now as my car was out of the factory and on a ship within 4 days!
The curse of the Friday delivery date strikes again. :-(
I’m sure yours will be fine. I can’t envisage a Wacky Races scenario where all 4 wheels fall off at the same time. The curse of the Friday delivery date strikes again. :-(
I’m going to get further compensation apparently. No idea what form it will take. An E63S shaped vehicle would be good enough at this point.
