Production delay for new E Class

No additional delays so far. I'm told it is safe to assume it began production last week and should be leaving the factory shortly. Which would mean a 10 week delay from the original build date to the actual date.
Odd that my system dates indicate a 2 day build when you’ve waited a week already? System shows finished prod on 28th and boat to UK on 3 April. It’s a bloody lottery!!E63S said:
Interesting comparisons. If you want a fun experience go for the E63S (if you can ever get your hands on a new one), but if you want to go fast in a boring manner, choose the M5. I think I made the right choice.
Quite honestly I don’t think you can go wrong with either car. The ‘Competition Pack’ M5 will be released in a couple of years (slightly more power, stiffer springs etc) and it will be interesting to see if Mercedes respond (with styling tweaks such as the Panamerica grille etc).Andy M said:

I think there gets a point when you have to say enough is enough. I think a 600hp 4 door saloon that can do 0-62 in 3.2 is quite fast enough. If these cars aren’t silly enough already, the comp pack certainly will be, as will any AMG response. They’ve already outgrown RWD, and it wouldn’t take too much more for the AWD system to struggle to put the power down too.E63S said:

Testing the S63 this weekend, I discovered that the AWD does struggle on anything but bone dry roads. The car was on Michelin Pilot Sport 3’s - on this experience I’m not a fan.Andy M said:

I’ve got the Pilot Sport 4S on my current car, and think they’re top notch. They are one of the tyres that MB put on the E63S, the other being PZero. If I get Pirelli’s I’ll be taking them off as soon as I get home. My sales chap said he would ask the factory to fit Michelin, but also said that requests of that type are almost always ignored! Well, two things there:I believe the S63 used and still uses the non-"+" version of 4Matic with a fixed torque split whereas the E63 has the new 4Matic+ with variable torque split for better traction in wet/slippery conditions.
Two, those tires can be rocks in cool/bad conditions.

This S63 was 4Matic+, and the tyres were rocks! I believe the S63 used and still uses the non-"+" version of 4Matic with a fixed torque split whereas the E63 has the new 4Matic+ with variable torque split for better traction in wet/slippery conditions.

I also have requested that Pilot Sport 4S's be fitted to my car and have been told that there's no guarantee.Like you, if it's delivered on anything other than the 4S's I will be fitting them asap.

I thought UK S63s were RWD only?
Something to do with not being able to configure 4matic + for RHD on the S-class platform.
I’d knocked it off my potential next car shopping list as I want AWD. If you can get it with 4matic + I will reconsider!

If you’re looking at the S63 they depreciate £30,000 as soon as you drive off the forecourt...ouch!
