With the Eurocharged TCU you do get a blip of sorts in sport mode and flicking down the gears.

Presumably the gearchange is quicker too? I do get a little frustrated at the click. wait a second- gearchange occurs. Go go go.

That looks great, wish I didn't have to do so many miles and could have something like this as a daily.

It is faster. It's still an auto at the end of the day and no match for a PDK or the latest ZF autos.

Always fancied one of these, thought about changing my 996 for one 7-8yrs ago but auto only was the deal breaker for me.

Would love to run one alongside my 996 but that's not going to happen any time soon.

I think auto is both a blessing and a curse with these. Hard to pin down which would be better. Perhaps if the manual mode was a little more modern....

This car had to be an automatic, it was one of my selection criteria- the others were that it was an estate and had more than 4 litres of swept displacement. Oh, and be petrol.

If the TCU map brings a little more speed and a rev matching blip on the down shift then I am sold.

If you do, do it. Let us know if the cost is worth it. What the difference is. Would be interested to know as it’s kinda always been on my list but I’m a little averse to messing around with cals knowing what goes into them.

FYI. You can do a rev match blip manually I.e with the mk1 foot if needs be. It’s a bugger to get it right, but it is doable.

No downside to it for me on my car. It's just whether you put any value to it.

For me the C55 suits an auto. It's not an aggressive pointy type of car.

Agree entirely. It’s a waft monster. Always have it in the back of my mind. Wonder how it would be with a manual. Then I waft and it all makes sense.

£11k plus the cost of rust fixing.

Seems high vs the C63’s starting prices.
Surely anyone would choose the C63 over the C55 hence the price gap has to be a certain level.

C63 looks much more in your face. I wouldn't buy one even at the same price. If you want sober looks and more waft and cruise then C55 is the way to go. It's also a much rarer car if you care about that sort of thing.

Fair point.

Isn’t the C32 AMG even rarer though?

Not a V8 though is it?

C43 is I think?

No but the same model

C32= C55= C63 for the equivalent generation.

E46 M6 I6 = E92 V9 = F30 I6 Turbo

B5 S4 V6 bi turbo = B6/7 = B8 I6 supercharger

Etc.

Also surely a C32 AMG is worth a lot more than the C43 of its same era?

I’d take a C43 NA V8 over a C32 supercharged V6, and any C63 in this price range will have the snapping headbolt issue.

Isn’t the C43 just a standard Merc model and not built by AMG?

How many left lists 293 licensed c32s vs 110 c55s. Not sure as to the split between estate and saloon though.
