Does anybody have any experience of using an independent specialist to service a car on a PCP agreement car, through Mercedes Benz finance.
If the indi is MB approved and has access to update the MB service data base (is this STAR?) does this contraviene the finance requirement for a main dealer service record?
An indie wouldn't be acceptable.
Can I just add to this - if you’re on a contract hire (ie a lease) then this is wholly dependent on your vehicle funder.

I’ve been leasing Mercedes for the last decade (just got rid of my last one and got myself a used SL (which won’t be going near a dealer)).

MBFS insist on MB servicing.

Lex and ALD don’t care - just “vat registered”. Usually I’ve managed to get MB to price match but the last service on my E class - it had covered just 2000 miles in a year! - they wanted 470 plus whatever else yikes And yes, it’s just an oil and filter change no matter how you dress it up.

Local indie £225 inc vat. All digital service record updated.

Merc have gone utterly bonkers on their pricing over the last decade, the increases are bananas. The thing is that almost every single car going in there is financed, people just add it onto the monthly and it “disappears”. The servicing is a sort of incidental thing - it’s really just a financial service.
