Good to see such positive feedback.

I feel like the tide is turning fast, against vehicles like this - so want to have that 500+hp V8 before it's all over.

I do think these are beautiful looking cars and seem good value used. For me it’s a toss up between one of these next or a BMW i8.

The ones above look fantastic in red.

For whatever reason performance is not a word which is synonymous with Mercedes. I think the general public still have a very old viewpoint with the brand.
I think the main problem is that in the U.K the concept of driving one of these cars and also trying to park one up is a mildly terrifying prospect.

Just had a peek at the classifieds. £70k gets you into a GTS 2016 model with ceramic brakes and burmester assuming a £4k margin and a few bits that needed fixing thats a £65k-ish trade-in.

That is brutal but just as brutal as some of the R8 V10 drops.

The market for big, wide cars in the UK with big engines is a shrinking market.

I'm looking at GTS' now too, re the width, it's just 2" wider than my current C63 coupe and I have no trouble parking/driving this anywhere. It certainly doesn't feel excessively wide on the road.

To be fair, it was never a large market in the first place. Most in the UK are far more concerned with owning a "house" and it's been like that since the mid-80s.

I remember folk sucking in their teeth at the idea of having a Mk3 2.9i Granada Ghia back in the late 80s/early 90s with comments like "I bet that's a gas guzzler"...and all whilst they tipped their hats to the likes of Escort RS Turbos and Sierra Cosworths??

In reality, naff all has changed...apart from the fact that the manufacturers have pulled up their socks and can get masses of BHP out of V engines as opposed to the old days when a near 3L V6 vehicle could only deliver a max of 150BHP.

Looking at one of these for next year after I’ve sold my TVR. Looking at the values, I’m expecting to pick one up for around £60k this time next year, with a bit of arm twisting, as the prices drop. The second hand sports car market is slow, having recently sold my Sagaris and bargains to be had in the future smile

Congratulations to you both.

Always liked the GT, the gen 2 will be interesting to compare..

I went on a road trip a couple of weeks ago and one of the other cars was a GT-R. Immense sounding monster, huge road presence. The owner freely admitted the GTC was a better car for the road in every way but it wasn’t launched when he originally got the car. Is it the coupe or convertible C you are getting?

I’m considering a GT S, or an R if I can swing it. There must be a point where these cars flatten out and settle, as they are somewhat special compared to the basic versions of the 911.

A £65k S I hope will dip into the 50s and stay there for a couple of years.

It’s a coupe, ended up getting it delivered from the dealer direct to a detailer for some paint protection work. I met the car off the trailer with my 12 month old with me so whilst I’ve seen it I’ve not actually driven it yet!

Won’t actually get to drive it until I collect it after I’m back from my summer holiday at the end of June...looks awesome in black with ceramics smile

I am in the market for a gts now but I am struggling with which options were originally available for the pre facelift cars.

Does anyone know where this is published? Also why do some of the earlier cars have Race mode and others don't?

All GTS have race. Facelift or not. It’s the standard GT that doesn’t. Just as the C63 and C63S differentiate. Thought that’s not the only distinguishing factor of course. Electric diff, engine mounts, bigger brakes, bit more power, sport seats.
